Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

Why do I get this feeling that, like Pirri, Tironese is going to get thrown out of every faceoff in the second half of the ECAC season?
.....because of your negative attitude towards everything RPI hockey related?

In all seriousness though, half of BP’s being waived out of the circle came from his tardiness in getting into the circle. That’s from a current ECAC ref.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

I received a special issue of The Hockey News on Friday called Dream Teams listing what they consider the top 50 NHL producing teams (junior and college) and an additional 10 from Europe. Surprisingly to me, RPI came in at #38. Sault St. Marie was #1 thanks to Gretzky, Peterborough #2, Oshawa #3, etc. The top college was BC at #15. Other college were North Dakota #16, Wisconsin #17, Cornell #24, Vermont #27, BU #30, Michigan State #31, Denver #33, BGSU #36, UMD #41, Minnesota #42, Michigan #44, and Maine #45. (We're better than Minnesota and Michigan. )

There is a two-page article about RPI and an additional two pages (one just being a picture) about Joe Juneau.

An all-star team based upon NHL success of Oates, Juneau, McPhee, Pothier, Hammond, and Puppa is included. Honorable mentions (one could call it a second team) of Pirri, Townshend, Carter, Dark, Friday, and Little. Louis Nanne is included as a player to watch.

The only thing on line appears to be https://secure.thehockeynews.com/online-store/index.php?cat=S&feature=THNS15YDREMT&.

Nice post Ralph. Not sure how much NHL success there was for Little, Friday, dark and Townsend ( if judging by goals and assists or in the case of goalies games won). But i am distinctly proud of everyone of our boys who make it. I think any of our guys who get there like Murley and Tapper deserve mention. The fact that we were ranked so highly (and approximately tenth in NCAA schools) truly surprises me. Being second highest in the ECAC also is of some note as i would have expected Clarkson and SLU to be up there ahead of us. Thanks for putting this up as it made for some interesting reading.

I agree that some had virtually no NHL success, but they had to fill two teams of 3 forward 2 defensemen and a goalie. I might have chosen York over Little, but after Puppa no one had more than a cup of coffee.

I know what you all are thinking, and yeah, of course I was in Alaska for this. The whammy rolls on.

Snow squall in capital district on Sunday puts me in mood for winter. Looking forward to Saturday's Michigan game at HFH.

I don't recall it being mentioned, but according to my calculations, the win over BC was RPI's 1000th in the modern era (since Ned Harkness reinstated hockey in 1949-50).
