Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

Broken left clavicle. Happened in the 2nd period of the PU game.
It was a very hard hitting game-mostly from the PU side. We saw lots of mid ice collisions and a couple along the boards but did not see Reno leave after a hit. Either we missed it, or he continued to play for a while and perhaps did not come out for the third

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

Peter Feola and Lynch were terrible putting us down 5-3. Cant do with tick tack stuff in tight games. Mike S belly aching at the end of the game, classic. I thought Cornell was slower than they usually are. Too bad Mike's experiment didn't work in Lynah, he had to go back to trapping the whole game.. sad.
Aspy: Cornell is not a quick team. But we were very fortunate. Our defense handed them far too many easy turnovers that just bounced away or over a stick deep in our own zone. if we do that often enough we are going to have some bad games coming up with teams that can put the puck into the net (QU).

There not only not quick DrD they're slim, easy to knock off puck IMO. To second point, yes improvement needs to be down there. However, I liked how Tommy Grant played, a lot of poise for a Frosh.

I didn't see the game so I can't judge the actual game play (I was watching Yale take a game they also probably didn't deserve), but a shot count of 44-16 doesn't look good. Regardless, a point is a point is a point and this is a huge win for the boys. Let's make it a four-point weekend and take down Colgate tomorrow.

Us missing the net and shooting into blocking forwards all night didn't help matters much. Given our defending play at times, I have no idea how we pulled that out. But, they don't ask how, they ask how many.

Basically the whole game can be summarized by 1. Kasdorf, and 2. Praps skating around and having the Cornell players following him like they were rats and he was the Pied Piper and then passing to an open Bradley. :)

For those stat freaks out there, there was an interesting stat regarding Kazzy mentioned last night.
He's played 2 ECAC home games so far this season (Harvard and Cornell) and has stopped 87 of 87 shots. :)

Actually, he has played three ECAC home games, and stopped 114 of 116 shots. Care to guess who the other opponent was? Give you a hint: the number 26 comes to mind... ;)

Mark Miller? :)
Actually, that's the only home game that I missed this year. Guess the RPI announcers forgot about that one too.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

I actually thought Cornell's defense did a pretty good job getting out of their zone when in many situations. Blown coverage on the Bradley goal, but I'm not terribly unhappy with what I saw yesterday. Hopefully that continues in Schenectady.

The league also "forgets" about it when putting out the composite schedule. ;) (Yes, I know travel partners are responsible for scheduling their own games...)

Cornell slim? Not when you look at that roster. There is a lot of meat and potatoes in that line up. It is a huge and strong team and they used all of that very well against our defense when we took too long to move the puck out. All night we got the puck in our zone, then turned back to hold it in the corners or behind the net, and Cornell had those big forwards come in and pin us there. Our D just does not have the size to do that and truthfully, at times, we do not have the speed back there to do that. We seem slower this year at retreating in our own end to get the pucks that are dumped in and opponents seem to have taken note of that and charged in faster. Our defense has to make quicker decisions and move forward more quickly or we will be paying dearly against quick forechecking teams.

You won`t run into Kasdorf in schenectady.I think you will win going away.

DrD yes they are slim. They went down like a feather. Mike lies on his roster and makes Cornell small on the sweater to make them look bigger.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

Quote from MGC "They didn't call much in the game (four penalties all night), so I was surprised they gave them a 5-on-3. Zach Schroeder, Mike Prapavessis and Chris Bradley went out there and they were unbelievable."

Feola was awful last nite along with his partner Lyons (??). You don't make that call. You and I always agree about Feola. All my best, Happy New Year.

Killing time here. Doc, I saw the 1st period of the AA vs Delbarton game yesterday (AA won 4-1). Not enough time to make any observations. I did watch the 2 Farinacci bros. though. The older (a ’97) is a big boy 6’3” 205 (F) & the younger might be someone to keep an eye on. John, also a F is a Fr. (’01) with good size @ 5’11” 180. Listed sizes looked to be legit BTW.
