There are plenty of us that I'm sure would be able to figure it out. What specifically would you like to see?

I think he's referring to the MEASE Simulation burgie runs (the fancy math, as you termed it) - I know I enjoyed reading that post each week and see how our chances improved!

I found that quite enlightening also.

Gore is exactly 32 miles from our house. We used to be up there much of the winter. A great place to ski-hardly ever too crowded and one of the best kept secrets with everyone heading to Vermont. But if you ski at Gore-you better know what your limitations are. If not, they could be bringing you down on a sled in a body bag. It is sneaky dangerous and incredibly icy. And there are a few wonderful restaurants around in North Creek and North river.
Not to get too much further into the backcountry on this ,but in fairness: Both Gore and Whiteface have benefitted from several recent major capital improvement projects--most notably, new gondolas at both mountains, and greatly advanced snowmaking capabilities. Also, Whiteface now owns a winch cat snocat (at least one, maybe two) which now enables them to groom darn near every trail on the hill.. As it sounds, the winch cat is equipped with a turntable mounted boom winch. The groomer attachs the cable onto large pilings at the top of the runs and then grooms their way down the steepest decents at the top of runs...where before they could not groom, due to the vertical drop. As others have said, if folks haven't visited in awhile, both mountains are worthy.

Sorry RB....now let's return to normal hockey programming. :D

I was the pastor for the Chestertown/Hague/NorthCreek Catholic Churches from '93-'98. I put a lot of time on Rt8 & 28.
Smith's was a wonderful restaurant. If you left hungry, it was your own fault. :)
And yes, Gore was not for the beginner, the Snow Bowl was for the beginner.

I trust that Doug Hearns is letting coach and team enjoy the puck for the weekend.

I've been skiing for almost 25 years now and a lot you have to say about Gore is true. Especially the crowded part. As far as the conditions go, I have never had any problems skiing there (though I was skiing with someone who ended up tearing a knee ligament there). I always thought that Whiteface (or as we call it here, iceface) was always more difficult. And yes, there are some nice restaurants in the North Creek area.

Anyway, get well soon Bergie12. Now, back to hockey talk...:)

We have been skiing at both also. Gore owes me a medial collateral ligament also. They are both icy but some sections at Gore are just plain treacherous. Used to love eating at Copperfield's though. Great food. In the old days Smith's family restaurant was great also and there was a small italian restaurant with the best sauces around.

At Smith's you had to have the turkey. Best meal in the place. Loved the little bar they had-never well stocked-but after a while they let me mix my own drinks.

Just spotted this -- employees of the Saratogian and the Troy Record were given termination notices today...part of the Warn act requirements for bankruptcy. The Record will continue to publish, but the end of the line may be coming for Ed Weaver and the Record.

That's quite sad, but not unexpected. The article however is somewhat confusing as it sounds like the company is being acquired by itself.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

No wonder why you loved the place!:)

It used to be fantastic and family run. You could virtually just pull up in front and park. North Creek was where we had to travel to go to a bank, food shop, etc from Blue Mt Lake. Just a great little place. If anyone gets to the area-find some time to go up and do some garnet mining at the barton mines. You can find some incredible gemstones-and while up there-have lunch or dinner at the High Winds restaurant.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Did anyone mention that SA was on USCHO at 8 PM on Tuesday? The podcast is still up at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/uscholive/2013/02/20/uscho-live-season-2-episode-17-appert-milewski.

Edit: The interview starts at about 20:55.
Nope.
Not sure if this has been mentioned but Seth Appert will be on USCHO Live, tonight from 8 to 9PM.
No one at all mentioned it.
I am having issues hearing this. It is very choppy and keeps stopping. Guess I will wait for it to be archived.
:D

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part IV: Not A Finished Product Yet

Browsed thru 12 pages of this thread last night and couldn't find mention of burgie's broken limb. (assuming only 1)
Is he ok/better now?
What Happened?
Weather related? Hockey related? Clicking his heels?
Sorry, viz. I cheated and posted it on the women's thread. USCHO Mobile has this annoying "feature" where they unsubscribe you from whatever thread you post in on Mobile and I would've rather unsubscribed from the Women's thread than the Men's thread over the weekend. Besides, I was called by name there.
He broke his leg skiing.
Anyways, thanks for lugnut for being on top of the ball.
Unfortunately-not uncommon at all. An extremely unnatural athletic activity that puts the body at great risk. Wonder where this all happened? Eastern icy slopes or Western powder? I always found Gore Mt and Whiteface to be the most dangerous of places for me. But then again, I could get hurt almost anyplace.:o
Sorry to ruin the reminiscing, Doc. But, since I live ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way out here in Buffalo, I keep my skiing to the Western New York slopes.

I went over one of the jumps in a terrain park at Holiday Valley in beautiful Ellicotville that I wasn't quite prepared for. I guess I never learned that landing was nearly as important to ski jumps as the jump itself.

I took quite a tumble, fractured my right femur, suffered a concussion (yes, I was wearing a helmet), and had to be air-lifted to the hospital in Buffalo.

But, the doctor performed surgery to place a rod in my femur that should keep things together when I can get back in the saddle (which definitely won't be anytime in the next five weeks... no weight-bearing in the right leg until the bone has healed).
Burgie/broken leg? Burgie the poster or Burgdorfer the player? Any word when Burgie can return? (I always felt safer playing hockey than skiiing. Doc, they don't call it Gore Mtn for nothing. :p )
Once I figured out how to get back in front of a computer, nothing can stop me now! :p It's so much easier to type on a keyboard than a stupid smartphone.

I'll do what I can. No promises, though.

In fact, I may send my spreadsheet off to FlagDUDE. Maybe his high-powered quad-core computer can help with some of this fancy mathwork. I say quad-core because I'm pretty sure that he has four gerbils to help power the rickety old thing. Maybe he's down to three, though. That would definitely hurt the efficiency :D

But, seriously, thank you to FD for picking up the slack for me in the "Mathematical Journey" thread and my apologies for stealing his thunder on the women's side. I didn't realize there was a separate thread started for that.
Anyway, get well soon Bergie12.
Thank you sir, I appreciate it.
Get better soon, burgie. The clickers are gettng restless:D
Clickers!? Well, as long as you don't come after me with pincers, I won't get too worried.

I was actually considering dropping those from my updates because nobody ever commented on them. I thought people were beginning to find them useless.
I bet she was cute.
The winner of the thread, though, has to go to WS. She is damn cute. :)
