Pretty sure he was behind the bench the entire night. And for those who keep track of suit colors for our coaches and or players standing behind the bench, CJ was wearing a TAN suit.....dun dun dun

Doesn't apply to the players. ;)

He might just have gone to watch Charlie Manley in the USHL.

Is Manley more of an offensive-minded D-man (similar to Nick Bailen)? I would have expected Vines to be watching Manley. Not to say Graham couldn't, of course...

I don't know much about him, but at that size I would hope offensive minded. You are correct that Vines would be more likely to have watched him. In any case, don't take my remark seriously -- it was just the first thing that came to mind.

Hockey stuff can be bought on-line through the bookstore http://store.rpibookstore.com/hockeygifts.html.

They really used to have so much more stuff to choose from. We bought the pins that came out every year and have some super shirts, jackets, sweaters, etc that we were able to buy back in the 80's and 90's. Also used to be nice to be able to purchase sweatshirts from visiting teams at the HFH before games. I think Jenny had all the ECAC schools and whenever teams came in for the Holiday Tournament we got theirs also (Notre dame, Aif Force, Alaska, etc).

Good article by Brian Sullivan especially Seth's talk about elite goalies and Brian's analysis of what an elite goalie means to a team. My problem is Seth and his staff need to make a decision shortly if you want that elite goalie for this season. Platooning two goalies is hard enough, (Dartmouth does it Cornell doesn't) but three is nearly impossible.

Coaches and scouts always say to save a weak recruiting class or move up an already good team.......... GaG. Get a Goalie. The saying isn't get three goalies.

Cornell doesn't do it because Iles is practically a superstar (WJC rep), as was Scrivens before him (you don't play in the NHL if you aren't one), and I'm sure you could name almost any of them and find them not to be a sieve (although their D corps does help out with that a bit). When you have three goalies that could be #1, it's difficult to pick one. As much as I hate to say it, I think Coach's choice is down to two for this year, as a certain goalie has been having some difficulties, especially right out of the gate in games. I'll hide the name to protect the innocent as well as to not start another 200-post fight, but I'm sure many know who it is.

It wasn't Seth's intention to have 3 goalies. Life isn't played out in cliches on paper....$$$$ happens. York jumped early forcing Seth to bring Diebold. Kasdorf was drafted and if Seth were to have deferred him, there was a strong possibility that he'd have lost him to major juniors. Credit Seth for recruiting great keepers.

As I have said ad nauseum, this team may have areas of concern, but goaltending is the least of them.

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part II: You Better Starting Posting the Engineer Way

Ive noticed this for awhile myself. The merchandise at the games stinks too. Can't tell if you are buying a hockey sweatshirt or a swimming sweatshirt. They all look the same. Very generic and vanilla. For years the hockey team had its own identity but someone wasn't happy with that.

Probably the person who looked to kill off Puckman (at least until some alumni threatened to stop donating)...

As Seth has said ad nauseam he is not pleased with his goaltending. Yes Kasdorf was a good choice and Seth did the right thing getting him. The three headed goalie will end soon if it already hasn't. Many teams are successful platooning two goalies. I like backing one goalie. Kasdorf??? It may be too early to throw him in every night. I hope by the middle of January we see a one goalie system and Kasdorf is as good the pro scouts think.
It is important to have a good "backup" goalie. Be it NHL, college level most coaches choose a number one goalie. Buy the ticket take the ride.
