See, Ralph, all those people who've been complaining there isn't supposed to be any math on this thread knew how much trouble you get into when you start calculating. :D

Good point. ;)

Awful quiet on here. I guess we just go and watch The Magnificent Seven on TCM for now.:)

I had the same thought. Before turk posted, I was wondering if we were going a full day without a post.

Maybe I should start a countdown to the first SCSU game. ;)

You could always watch the first 15 seconds of Yales 4-2 win over UMass.
Very impressive performance.

LTsatch,

I assume that you mean the first 15 seconds of the video, not the game. :)

Good to see an ECAC OOC victory after Harvard's performance a day earlier.

Which Burg? You sure this shouldn't be taken to the alumni thread? :D

Well, you guys could always have an intellectual discussion about the first two of WaP's ongoing holiday break series on RPI hockey turning points. :)

:D
I have a hard time believing that had RPI not won the 1954 championship, he would not have been courted by Cornell. IMO, Cornell would still have been interested in him. Cornell was a poor team at the time, and if they were interested in imporving their program he would still have looked good.

BTW, it is an interesting point that if we had not become a hockey power, we might have remained one in lacrosse.

It is also interesting, and probably true, that if we had not become such a power, the North Country schools might have gone to HE in the mid-80's. I think that Colgate would have preferred to stay with the Ivies in any situation.

Let's say that RPI wasn't in the picture, and the HE schism still happened. Why wouldn't UVM be considered? Perhaps in the 90's, when we were offered a second chance to go? Would Union have moved up their program to D-I? Perhaps if CCT/SLU went to HE, and then UVM went, Colgate may have been playing in a CHA that still existed.

At the time, UVM regarded themselves as more similar to the Ivies than the other NE state schools. Colgate has always felt itself as an Ivy at least on the undergrad level.

Personally, I think that if it weren't for RPI, Union would never have gone D-I.

Well, I suppose you learn something every day. http://www.withoutapeer.com/2012/12/what-if-bjorkmans-conundrum.html

I think we could almost guarantee that one of the future ones would be "What if RPI joined Hockey East"... any speculation on what the other ones will be?

I think that I could guess most of them. :D ;)

Edit: It is an interesting take on the situation in the mid-1960s, namely that RPI was lucky that Bjorkman didn't stay.

It's going to be a tough game against Bye this evening. ;)

Re: RPI Hockey 2012-2013 Part II: You Better Starting Posting the Engineer Way

I hear that all of Bye's defensemen are terrible skaters, they're all as mobile as pylons.

Didn't they recently construct additional pylons?

I heard that for their goalie, they just stuck a reaver in front of the net. :D
