RPI 2026-27: Houston Field House, We Have Lift-off!

The first video was posted June 4 and showed they'd done all the demolition work and removed the old system and floor. So they didn't start in June, but I wouldn't think that was two plus months of work either. Somebody should be answering some very pointed questions.
Dan Fridgen is back behind the bench again
Wow ! That is news --taking over after Uryadov's passing. Best of luck to Fridge.

I believe Fridge recruited Uryadov from South Kent (which is only about 10 miles from Canterbury). Canterbury is about 20 miles from my house. I've never even met Fridgen but he always seemed like a good guy. Maybe I'll check the schedule to see if I can take in a game.

In honor of Leo Serlin, today is 12 September 2026. There are 20 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 2 October 2026 for the start of next season.

Football not exactly going our way today - several times we have simply shot ourselves in the foot. Fumbles lost (although one looked like an incomplete pass), interception, inopportune penalties etc. Currently 28-14 Utica leading. We have had a difficult time with their short passing much as it was last year.

In honor of Ben Yurchuk, today is 13 September 2026. There are 19 days until RPI's next game.

Early line on the RPI football game for next weekend shows us as a 7 point underdog to Brockport St. We played fairly even for the first half with Utica but far too many costly errors gave up 18 points in the second half.

Stopped at HFH today. It appears that boards are arriving -- there are board sections on pallets inside the building, visible from the open door I was peering into.
I couldn't tell if all of the boards and glass were on site, but its progress at the least.

There is a local contractor crew working to demo the old wooden gym flooring in the concession area, so that section will be getting new flooring of some sort.

Out back, the refrigeration system remains a work in progress --they have some rental equipment on trailers (one tank unit and another with a large diameter hose attached. ) There was water being circulated / pumped out of the system and into the surface of the rear parking area.

Seeing as how we are now 12 business days away from the women's home opener and still have no boards or ice, I think the possibility of HFH being ready in time is remote....would love to be proven wrong !!
