RPI 2026-27: Houston Field House, We Have Lift-off!

I have to wonder if our goalie was playing injured either game this past weekend. He took a bad hit in the OSU series a few weeks ago, and was baseball slid into 4 times by Union skaters this past weekend. He looked slow getting up over the last 3 times a Union skater skated into him.

I said it previously, he's taken way too much contact in the early going. He won't make the season if he keeps getting run over....he's a pretty slight kid. At some point, a message needs to be sent and/or Krawchuk needs to introduce a few of those guys to his paddle.

Not much new info from Lang's weekly radio spot. Credited Union for two well played games from a more experienced team ...and it showed. Lang reiterated his no panic, stay the course big picture mentality. Expects two close games in the north country. He did mention that the team will skate in Lake Placid on Thursday, so that should be a nice mood setter for the boys heading into Friday night.

Odds for this week - Football on Saturday will not be the blow out cake walks we have had lately - we are 7 point underdogs to a very good Ithaca team on the road (I had suspected an even wider spread).
Girls hockey tonight -Tuesday we are a 1/2 goal underdog on the road at Union (also expected a wider spread here)
For the boys weekend we are a 1/2 goal favorite on Friday at SLU and a 1/2 goal underdog at Clarkson on Saturday. Hoping we can have a successful road trip and it certainly seems the North Country trip just does not appear as difficult as it has been for so many years in the past. Go Red!!

This weekend will be a tough one! SLU is horrible on the defensive side. We should put up some goals. Clarkson has struggled so far. Saturday will be a really tough game
In the old days we used to travel up to the North Country games every year. Just can never take anything for granted up there. have seen games when leading in the third where we take 3 or 4 consecutive penalties (deserved or not??) and end up losing by a couple. Have been there in the stands watching what seemed like a very good RPI team that had performed well in earlier games get absolutely blown out by double digits. Always enjoyed those trips though and found the CCT fans both hockey knowledgeable and mostly friendly.

I’m debating going up on Friday to see my daughter at SLU. Catch the Friday game.
I agree doc very difficult weekend even when both teams are not playing well.

Agree St. Lawrence is the one you have to get. They're 0-4 and their PK is at 66.7%, so the power play should get its looks. Saturday at Clarkson is the tougher one.

We will have to make sure we protect our goal tender for both games - these teams are both full of big physical forwards and love to get traffic in front of the net. i suspect we will see 2 pretty physical games and having played Union twice last week should have us ready for that.
