RPI 2023 Off-season: We March Fourth Into the Off-season

Does anyone know any potential non-conference opponents for next year yet?

I think there probably will be a trip to Mercyhurst to reciprocate for the home games this year and, of course, the Mayor's Cup. Beyond that, a relationship with Vermont seems to be forming (faced them in each of the last 3 seasons); wouldn't mind that continuing.

Today is 7 March 2023. There are 214 days (7 months) until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 7 October 2023 for the start of next season.

It's late. More than 48 hours after everybody's commitments and obligations are done and we still have absolutely no one in the portal.

As the great actor Claude Rains would have said were he still with us and standing outside the Fieldhouse instead of the gambling hall in Casablanca. I'm shocked!!! shocked!!! There is no transferring in there!!!

Maybe we can dump the Mayor’s Cup for the Cross of Canton and play the game against SLU in Glens Falls.

Hey 25+ Years, where did you go for dinner in the North End?[/QUOTE

After the game we had reservations and went to a place on Salem St. called Antico Forno. The food was really good and it wasn’t crowded. Of course we also went to Mike’s Pastries on Hanover St for some cannolis to bring home. I’ll tell you despite the light rain, raw temperatures, and windy conditions, the North End was a happening place.

Just a related note: When we went to the Frozen Four last year we parked at the Wonderland T stop on the Blue line for , get this $2.00, and took the subway to the Bowdin T stop and walked down the hill to the TD garden (5-10 minute walk). This time we used SpotHero parking reservation app ($25)parked in Dock Square garage, near Quincy Market/ Haymarket walked about 15 minutes to the Garden and then walked about 10 minutes back to the North End for dinner and then 10 minutes back to our car. And it’s a 5 minute drive to the Mass Pike from there.

On another note: Tony Granato fired at Wisconsin. Two losing seasons in a row and he is out. And that is a place with two hockey arenas (one for the men’s games and one for the women’s) and Madison is a great city to live, work, and play in. And, despite all that, they are having trouble recruiting star players, competing with several Midwest schools. So our situation is quite understandable.

Did they show up that soon last year?

In the winter, the transfer portal window was approved. It is 60 days long and begins the Monday after Selection Sunday. You won't be seeing anyone show up for 3 weeks.

This portal window only includes those who are using the one-time free transfer. Players who are using their grad transfer or are sitting out a year can still enter now. So the only players for us that can enter in the next 3 weeks are Mahshie, Walsh and Klee. After that, the rest of the team can

Thanks for the explanation.

Since we need defensemen, Cam Gaudette of Northeastern who has two years of eligibility left has entered the portal. He only played 16 games in two years there. He previously played for Maryland (NAHL) and was rated 3.50 *'s by Neutral Zone. I think we could do better, but ...

Another possibility is Brown's Luke Krys.

Hard pass on Gaudette. Luke Krys is really good but has a ton of interest and is unlikely to come here
