RPI 2020 Off-season Overtime: In Memory of Turk181

The Big 10 is a week away from starting the Hockey season. The ECAC has no clue what they are doing.
I know that a lot of people on this thread blames Ms Jackson for everything, but maybe if the ECAC gave some guidance we might have a season.

Ms. Jackson in 100% control on what happens with her student /athletes.....still to this minute for the hockey student/athletes who are in Troy.......no access to weight room, Fieldhouse, coaches, trainers, new gear/equipment etc. From my understanding the players have been responsible to find ice/training facilities on their own and at their own expense. If accurate, what message does this send to the players??

Appears to be little to no initiative to get any sort of return to practice plan in place/approved by Ms. Jackson.

I have no doubt that all of this is true. And I'm not even sure the players could find ice on their own if they wanted to pay....The Albany County rink at the airport is closed and according to the website, the Bethlehem YMCA rink is open only for group use. Clifton Park rink website says its closed until further notice. HVCC is likely locked down under the SUNY guidelines...

Sadly, I'm beginning to think that they'll be no RPI hockey played this year.

Both NAFTA and Wicked pretty much nailed it leaving little to be added. None the less, keep in mind that the deadline for renewing season tickets (Nov. 20) is fast approaching and obviously no one would want to risk "losing their seats or parking spots".

In the event anyone can't figure out what the problem is at that place, the above pun is in no way, shape or form intended to be a jab at the LONG STANDING athletic department administrators at the institution. Anyone who even remotely knows any of them knows they are highly competent and dedicated with far too much personal integrity and character to initiate or VOLUNTARILY AND WILLINGLY take part in such a scam like shell game. Being under the direction of the people they presently answer too must be tearing their stomachs apart.

So lets lay off them with any sarcasm or snide comments. There have already been a bevy of posts to this thread that should make it obvious to anyone what direction those comments should be aimed at.

P.S. Talk about seeing in to the future and being prophetic. Look up the Without A Peer website and find the I'm Leaving article. At the time some considered the author egotistical and downright nuts. See if the article reads that way now!!!

Every day it seems I am getting closer to be ready to watch reruns of Gilligan's Island. Not much of an alternative to Engineer hockey but i too am feeling that this season will be a lost cause. Was always kind of partial to Marianne.

Today is 10 November 2020. In honor of Lauren Severson, there are 17 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 27 November 2020 (day after Thanksgiving) for the start of next season.

Totally agree with Marianne.
Army had to cancel its football game last week the SEC is in danger of cancelling games this weekend. With the virus out of control right now, I have little hope for an ECAC hockey season.
That being said, I will be watching the Big Ten hockey season for any insight it may give us to have a season beginning in January.

Note, the RIT decision was -- far as we can tell so far -- a school decision to remain in concert with the Liberty League. Not the LL forcing RIT. ... So the 4 ECAC schools can make their own decisions. ... More to come.

RIT Players issued their own statement calling BS on the admin. Inferrign that they successfully jumped through all of the safety protocols and plicies and yet were left out of the decision to cancel the season.

Patriot League just announced that they are moving forward with Basketball on Jan 2nd, planning on spring sports and likely football and all fall sports in the spring as well. Considering that the Patriot League is closer to an Ivy or D3 in its attitudes versus Big 10 etc., this is good news and hopefully spurs the ECAC to move forward.

Times-Union article indicates that ECAC AD's and Ivy presidents are conferencing today to decide the fate of the hockey season.

"While RPI’s athletic workouts remain on pause because of COVID-19, Union’s winter teams have been working out with their coaches this fall in small group activity with strict safety guidelines in place. Union said its teams will continue working with their coaches after athletes return from break “to provide an engaging on-campus experience.”

If there is no season , so be it. But sadly, all RPI student/athletes have not even been given the opportunity to experience an engaging on-campus experience like the folks just a few miles away......entire RPI athletic department has to be extremely frustrated.
