Travis Roy passed away yesterday. What a role model he was. Your worst nightmare comes true and you make something out of it. So as we sit here wondering when the Engineers will play again and who will be in the lineup, let us all pause for a second and remember things could be far, far worse. Let Travis and his life be a guide to us all.

Well said, a true inspiration who made the absolute most out of his injury. RIP.

Union and Quinnipiac have games scheduled in November and December against Atlantic Hockey teams. Meanwhile, our team still can't get on the ice because Her Majesty must sit atop her throne while placing all of athletics at the very bottom. Everyone understands the importance of safety, but she is simply ignoring the safety protocols developed by the multitude of athletics teams who want to get back to practicing and playing. She claimed at the town hall that she did not have return to play proposals from teams yet. I know for a fact that's a lie; she has had numerous proposals sitting on her desk. She has singlehandedly ****ed off everyone in the athletics department. Of course, you won't hear it publicly as they will take the high road, and they obviously cannot publicly criticize The Queen. The resentment is there though, I can assure of you of that, and they all know how she has athletics at the very bottom. I want to be clear that this is affecting all of athletics, not just hockey, even though hockey is what we obviously care about most.

Completely agree. Can't say I'm completely surprised....sadly. Classic higher ed politics....set up an onerous frame work for your minions to adhere to, and then ignore them when they abide by the letter of your rules.

RPI doesn't have the status of the Ivies to get away with this.

Actually five ECAC teams already appear on Atlantic Hockey schedules. Lets just call them the five with administrations that want to return to normalcy ASAP and are starting the process by simply playing their freaking games.

Do not want to believe it is beyond the capacity of posters to this thread to figure out which group of six does not want to play and are pretty much the reason the ECAC remains the only conference yet to announce a return to competition plan.

Then there is a "seventh" giving off signs that are starting to appear pretty obvious and only requires the ability to figure out the path of a Hallmark movie to recognize. They have no ice yet. We all know the "seventh" was supposed to play Army who is coming to the Capital District the last week of December. The "seventh" is now nowhere to be found on Army's schedule. Don't you think that Army would be making a second Capital District stop that weekend if the "seventh" had any intention of playing this season.

Finally, a longer range concern. What is the future of a conference whose member can't even agree on whether to play or cancel? Same as the long departed Southwestern Conference or the original Big East? Can't see administrations that want to hold athletic events sticking with those who do not. Sorry, I think this rift is going to eventually send present ECAC members looking for new homes.

Does anyone know what this refers to https://twitter.com/RPI_Hockey/status/1322305103714549766?

They can't announce recruits like that, so it must be something else. Probably like a commitment to the players' health.

I'm pretty sure it's referring to recruits. They just can't announce the names or anything. However, if it turns out to be another kind of commitment referring to the upcoming season, I would welcome that surprise.

If they are recruits, the info should come out from somewhere soon.

One has shown up. It's Danny Ciccarello of Salmon Arm. The same place Dubinsky went. More is on the recruit thread.

I guess that the commitments weren't a commitment by Shirley to get a new popcorn machine and .... ;-)

It's fairly standard in basketball and football for schools to give a social media indication there's been a commitment. In those sports interest, offers and visits are widely reported so fans and reporters usually know who it is without the name being included.
