RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

Re: RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

Not yet. Still can get as high as 13. Believe it or not, a Mercyhurst win is very important to RPI.

Actually, as it sits right now, RPI is unable to get higher than 14. If current results (Brown up on Quinnipiac, Canisius up on Niagara, and Providence up on Lowell) hold up, that would put RPI out before the Mercyhurst game ends.

But even as high as 13, the autobids for conference winners will detract. A Mercyhurst conference champion means one less available at-large NCAA berth for RPI.

Re: RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

This thread is moving quite quickly, so a quick recap of tools for anyone late to the party:

In the Pairwise and Bracketology thread said:
Updated predictions/odds given the current results (following Wisconsin's defeat of SCSU) here:
http://pwr.reillyhamilton.com/

And the two tools now have WCHA Semi #2 disabled (I called it semi #2 before I looked at the schedule, it was apparently semi #1, whatever :) ).

We've got this handled, friend. We've crunched the numbers, believe me.

I found one!

Niagara defeats Mercyhurst, Miami defeats Notre Dame, Yale defeats Brown, Union defeats Quinnipiac, Lowell defeats BC, and Minnesota defeats Wisconsin. That would leave RPI in the 16th and final slot with no autobids going to teams with lower pair wise rankings.

As of right now, there are 873 possibilities where RPI makes the tournament out of 49,152. Your scenario isn't exactly a beautiful or unique snowflake :p.

That's like greater than 50 to 1. Not a nice number.

See, everyone has a little Red Cloud personality in them. :)

Canisius beats Niagara. We'd have to make top 15 in order to get into the tournament. I feel the fork. :(
