RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

Re: RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

RHamilton,

You mentioned earlier that your code runs significantly faster than it did two years ago despite the fact that you are using an old computer. How much of the speed increase is due to there being one fewer consolation games and thus only one third as many cases to run? (Or am I wrong about that? I don't remember when the WCHA started having two play-in games. It may be the same number of games, but one fewer that can end in a tie, and thus only a 33% decrease in the number of cases.)

Sorry we won't get to meet up with you in Atlantic City this year. We had our fingers crossed. Once the boys lost the last game we knew we weren't using the tickets for the third year in a row and gave them away. Let's hope we do not start the off season thread just yet.

Re: RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

Just saw the replay of wisconsin goalie throwing his stick in the crease to save a goal by st cloud. I don't know what replay the refs were watching to say no goal -maybe it was i love lucy rerun- but wcha refs can give ecacs a run for their money.

Since "throwing equipment" is a penalty (Rule 55), it's not reviewable. The review was just to see whether the puck crossed the line. Had the penalty been enforced, it's an awarded goal.

Rule 55 - Throwing Equipment
Throwing A Stick - A player, including the goalkeeper, shall not throw a stick in any zone.
PENALTY—Minor or penalty shot/optional minor. If thrown to prevent an obvious and imminent goal, the goal shall be awarded.
