RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

Re: RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

Back from the brink-but sitting on the edge now. With Nick injured it will be really tough for us tomorrow. Not only down to 5 defensemen, but missing our offensive quarterback and biggest threat. BTW tonight must have been something at QU-winning 10-0 over Cornell (I will have to check and see if they have ever lost by that much in a playoff game) and the ref handing out 184 minutes in penalties. Big Mike must be taking something to calm down after this one.

I think this a reflection of how the other coaches in the league feel about Mike S. Pecknold runs a 10 spot up. I can't see him doing that to SA, Donnie, Vaughn, etc. Mike S has treated his other colleagues like crap and this is what you get. Of course, Adam Wodon (Cornell grad and ECAC apologist) will write a story about how Cornell is the best thing since slice bread.

Re: RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

Baker was horrendous last night. He lost control of that game by calling everything on RPI and nothing on Brown. That's why you get a kid putting a knee on knee. Hey, I got away with it, so hey why not take it to the next level. The ECAC should not allow Baker there tonight. Remember Baker officiated the last Brown series and allow them to mug JDA and Pirri. In game 1, he called three penalities on Pirri in the first period. Baker carries the bias that he was taught by Paul Stewart. I was proud of the RPI faithful last night by turning the heat up on Baker. Going to be a war tonight. Go RED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I follow you rthoughts but i am not sure about Baker just yet. He has tonight to redeem himself. I think the Bubela call was beyond absurd but the knee on knee was an unavoidable mid ice collision that happens. Neither deserved a major penalty call. Could the refs influence the result tonight? Surely-and possibly in a not so overt fashion. But here's hoping the two teams decide this one by simply playing good hockey. Whoever makes the fewest mistakes and makes the better plays should win. I can accept that no matter what the result is. Making non calls is as bad as making ludicrous calls-i just want the zebras to get it as close to right as they can. it is a tough job with things happening so fast and we have the advantage of instant replay. But this one means the end of the season for one team and you can only hope it does not come because of something stupid or biased.

Disagree AD-he did not run a 10 spot. 7 of those goals were in the second period. I am a firm believer that you never have enough at that stage and if given the opportunity to score 11 before 40 minutes were up I would do it. You keep your foot on the gas until you are safely near the checkered flag. I would agree with you if most of the goals were scored with 5 minutes left in the game. This was just a 10-0 whipping and it will last only until they dro the puck at 7:30 tonight. I don't think Cornell will just go quietly into the sunset because of it. Tonight's game for those two is winner take all and it will be just as tough as if yesterday never happened.

I respectfully disagree. You need to look at the box scores from the last Brown series to look at the magnitude of the screw job we took from him. In fact, my brother will confirm that I joined this thread to complain about Baker. Stewart proabaly pulled himself away from the KHL and Russian vodka long enough to make the assisgnments to try to give it to us one more time before getting the gate from Hags (Steve not Ryan)

Re: RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

Couple thoughts...Brown is VERY good at clogging up their slot and not letting us get any looks on net. They also seem to have perfected the stick lift. We couldn't get anything going in the first, and it wasn't for lack of trying. Brown was just ALWAYS there. Thankfully going down 2-0 took them out of it a bit, we were able to find our game and stick with it. Kasdorf looked rattled after letting in Brown's second goal (shorthanded, we need to stop giving those up), but thankfully snapped out of it. As much as I don't want the entire game to be played on special teams, I hope the officials call a tighter game tonight, or at least take control of the situation. Right after Luke got pushed over I was saying to my friend that someone was going to get hurt if they didn't start calling things, and lo and behold he turned around and creamed a Brown player. I don't blame him, but both teams took an awful lot of liberties last night, and I do not want tonight to be more of the same. Good penalty kill by the Engineers and good job keeping the pressure on until the final buzzer sounded!

Again, disagree. Scored three in the third. I saw Donnie Vaughn roll his third and fourth lines last year when they were taking to us good. I'm sure the goals in the third were part of the reason for 184 min being meated out. Of course, I'm sure Stewart's guys lost control of that one too.

No, they scored 1 in the 3rd after Isles had come back into the game after giving up the first 5...... http://collegehockeyinc.com/stats/boxes13.php?mcorqui1.m16

Aspy.....you think ALL officials are out to screw RPI. Can you please just give it a rest!!?? As far as Coach Pecknold running it up on Coach Shafe, not even close. Please stop trying to create a situation that doesn't exist. You are trying to present a situation as if you have first hand knowledge with these coaches.......other than your information you get from SA. I think it appears that Coach Pecknold lacks sportsmanship. No matter who your opponent is, you never want to run it up on an opponent to embarras them. However, maybe Coach Pecknold had no control over that. Maybe the 4th line puts up the numbers as you give your top guys a rest.

Regardless, I really hope RPI gets back to AC. This will put the Albany hex in the rear view mirror and start what should be a no brainer......RPI in the league championship weekend!!

No, Hicks, Baker, Koytra. I'm glad I bring meaning to your life.

I am not going to start an offseason thread now since there are apparently circumstances under which RPI can still make the NCAA tourney.
