RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

Re: RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

FWIW, the article says Appert is four wins shy of 100, so his 100th win should coincide with the program's 1000th win, and if we make it there this season it'll also be the ECAC championship, if my calculations are correct. :) Could be a pretty historical game for RPI hockey if we make it, but there's a lot left before we get there.
I am pretty sure he has 98 now. http://www.uscho.com/stats/history/rensselaer/mens-hockey/2012-2013/

Not necessarily... it could be a 1st round win in the NCAA tournament. I however wouldn't mind seeing #104 and 1004 this year. 8 more to go. Someone needs to throw the octopus on the ice at the HFH on Friday!

And I thought I was the only one old enough to know the significance of the octopus toss from back in the 50's following the Detroit Red Wings. I have very modest goals for this team-I just want to see them get into the NCAA tournament and win one game. Hasn't happened in 28 years and for me that would be quite a nice step up. (I reserve the right to get greedier after that)

I'm glad to see Curtis Leonard get some limelight. That kid has a great outside shot, and I'd love to see him take it more often. I know I was overjoyed to see him on a power play unit at St. Cloud, and immediately that line turned our atrocious power play into something good.

I also have some trouble with the number of wins set at 996. If you add up wins versus all opponents I get 997. If you add up wins under each coach and then add those with no coach in the early years, I get 994. When I go back through all my years books(and I have them all from 1963 until they stopped publishing them a couple years ago-I get a number over 1000 already. I trust the numbers that Kurt posts-he is very careful with his statistics. But I just am not sure what the 'real' number of total RPI wins are at this stage. In any case-i want at least 6 more this year and i will be one happy semi retired old RPI grad(but still confused:confused:)

OK then maybe we can have someone throw a starfish on the ice. Or even better... a Patrick Starr doll.

Well this may be random, but I just want to say that I enjoy reading posts in the RPI threads. You guys always seem to catch a thing or two that most of us miss. Plus, the calculations, figures, pairwise rants and other random etc etc etc's are extraordinary. However, I can only come up with one conclusion from all this ... You all have too much free time on your hands :p :)

What else would we spend our time on? ;)

FWIW, I get 996 from Kurt's numbers.

I am retired. :)

The 996 is from adding up his totals for each year. Go and add up the totals by each coach and then add in the years of having no coach. Or even better-add up the totals of wins against each opponent. They do not match.

Like Ralph-I am retired, for about 12 years now (well mostly retired).

Ralph Baer, DrDemento, FlagDUDE08 ... Unfortunately, I have a long ways to go before I reach retirement age. I'll probably wind up with tons free time on my hands and posting on here all the time anyways, so it's all good :D

I'm probably further away than you. My inquiry still stands.
