RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

Re: RPI 2013 Part V: Who Wants Screech?

One starts to get the feeling that you are doomed to repeat history. How many 5v3 goals do we have this year? That's right, zero, with one shorty.

I already had the feeling that you didn't understand the concept of small sample sizes.

How much does this BU gig pay? I have been looking for a new job lately :)

I already had the feeling that you were going to use the accolades of different teams to justify your position. Next you'll be telling me that putting two D-men on the 5v4 PP line was a mistake because your large sample size, albeit not condusive to this team, told you to use 4 forwards.

Was this supposed to make sense?

That creativity is one of the true benefits of living abstemiously.

That may be only the second word i know that has the same characteristic.:) You are indeed a cunning linguist.:)

(as long as you were not being uncomplimentary) which BTW is the only word I know that has the vowels in the reverse order.

If you consider modesty to be a compliment, then I suppose yaledoc was not.

Was your comments?

Yes, my comments made perfect sense. You question tactics without having any idea of how they actually function. Then you tell me I'm "using the accolades of different teams to justify my position," when A) I haven't done anything of the sort, and B) have discussed no "position."

So yes, my comments "were" make sense.

For several teams, I'm sure they do make sense. The difference between you and me is that one is typing from a macro sense (hockey in general), and one is typing from a micro sense (the 2012-13 RPI Engineers). If an entire regular season is not big enough of a sample space to tell you that something hasn't been working for a specific team, then there's nothing that will satisfy you. Will the 4-1 work with next year's Engineers? Perhaps it is possible, but we won't know until we see next year's Engineers. However, from a standpoint of this year's Engineers, it is not working.

WaP on whom to root for, in addition to RPI, of course.

Fascinating as always. Interesting how he has focused on the Minnesota State games we blew late leads in.You never know, even early in the season what will come back and haunt you. Makes for interesting reading-but it appears we have a difficult weekend coming upas we are rooting for mostly underdogs on the road. As Scott Glenn says near the end of The Hunt For Red October (as his sub and the Russian sub are heading directly towards each other in a game of chicken of the sea) 'This One Is Going To Be Close!"
