And who picked up this "mindlessly stupid penalty"? Yup, the same player who had the penalty in the Princeton game and the person who is earning votes for the Hobey.

Sorry I didn't clarify...that was exactly the point of my post.

Haggerty is not the Bank of America. He isn't too important to sit. Let him sit out the Dartmouth game.
So you want to sit him two games after the bone headed move? Isn't that a little late? May as well tell him it's for the Cornell episode and then wait until playoffs to let him know the Princeton thing was not in keeping with the spirit of Hobey Baker.

Today is January 24, 2014. There are 6 players ahead of some unnamed player who has taken a couple of ill-timed penalties. Did you vote <strike>today</strike>within the last 24 hours?

Vote HERE.

Red Cloud has criticized my countdown posts in the past, although I don't recall comments about the color. :)

These would be classified as "off-color comments."

OK ok, I'll go back to reading, and not posting. Talk to you all tonight.

You'd rather everyone know that he got away with it? I'm not talking about single actions, but rather the big picture. He has done a lot of bone-headed stuff, and who cares if he has 18 goals? He hasn't scored in a month and a half! And for those that want to whine about number of games, there's been seven, so call it a month if you must.

I dunno if this is true or not, but I think it's pretty hard to break goal scoring droughts from the stands.

First way to lose a team is to publicly bash your guys in the media.

I don't believe its Jacques. I think it was Ashley Miller who is a sports reporter/producer and occasional sports anchor at Ch.13.

WS always has an eye for talent ;) Marisa Jacques is a great reporter, nicer person.

usually I'm more than a little skeptical about concepts like "harmonic convergence" but the frustrations on the ice and the snarling infighting here on this thread ..... might they somehow be connected in some cosmic snarl?

One of the hardest things to fight is a contagion in confidence. If anyone here has ever been part of a rowing team, you know that if one person starts to lean to one side, you need someone mature enough and self-controlled enough to lean the opposite way. That can be quite challenging sometimes. otherwise, when one person starts to lean to one side, if a few more also lean to that side, pretty soon you are all under water.

On some teams, there is a senior or precocious underclassman who has that quality where he can inspire by example. you can't wait for it to emerge by magic, you evoke it with an exceptional effort.

I remember once, in a team sport in which cooperation with teammates was absolutely essential, we were stuck with a total ass. moan, complain, nothing ever his fault, everyone else always to blame. his attitude and manner on the court were dragging everyone down, and we were struggling.

Finally, we were so totally angry with him, we all decided first, not to speak at him or look at him at all, and also to execute the fundamentals so very, very well that it would be impossible to find anything to criticize. We turned things around from that point forward, and he remained ostracized until the first chance came along for us to dump him. the emotional work was challenging, harder than the physical, yet ultimately gratifying.

+1 Doesnt mean that he gets any special treatment thought and certainly that he isnt on the receiving end of some crystal clear communication.

You missed the point. My point was that his goal scoring was being used as an excuse for him to get away with what he has been doing.

The amazing thing is that all we need is a win tonight and tomorrow and a lot of the ranting and complaining will stop.
