Just trying to remind everyone to vote. It takes 15 seconds of my day.

Rock on. Doesn't change my opinion, especially when you use ooh big bold red print like that.

And for some reason, shrink other text.

"Going undefeated" and "winning four more games" [during the regular season!] are not mutually exclusive, you know.

Going undefeated seems a bit optimistic. Winning only four more games seems a bit too pessimistic. I'm somewhere in the middle.

I agree that we do have a somewhat more advantageous schedule going forward, and many of the last several games have been against top-level teams, but... yeah.

FRIDAY’S OFFICIALS: The referees for Friday’s contest are Mike Baker and Bryan Hicks ... The linesmen are Glen Cooke and
Joe Testa.
SATURDAY’S OFFICIALS: The referees for Saturday’s contest are Chip McDonald and Scott Whittemore ... The linesmen are Brad Leblanc and C.J. Hanafin.... http://www.rpiathletics.com/documents/2014/1/22/2013-14MHKYGameNotes_DAR_UNI.pdf?id=1746

It surprises me that the NCAA allows Hanafin, an RPI grad, to wear stripes in our games.

It surprises me that the ECAC didn't put Bryan Hicks on for Saturday instead of Friday in order to get the required result.

:)

Seriously, is the ECAC responsible for refs in nonconference games?

In honor of Jacob Laliberte and Laura Horwood, today is 20 September 2013. There are 15 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 5 October 2013 for the start of next season.

Apparently I'm not using enough color.

Friday's going to be interesting... One ref that calls strict by the book, and one that can't keep control of the game and likes to wave off actual tying goals.

Saturday with MacDonald, we might as well just give Union the victory right then and there.

Red Cloud has criticized my countdown posts in the past, although I don't recall comments about the color. :)

Perhaps we should ignore him. He obviously wants to dictate what is said and done on RPI threads. No sense in letting him.

The host team will typically bring in their league's refs. The only time I've seen this not happen was RPI vs. Niagara in 2009, when Feola did the game and it was in WNY. However, several refs work more than one league, and given Feola lives in WNY (ECAC website used to post that sort of stuff, but not anymore), easy trip for a cost containment league.

Letting the rest of this season play out before I try to analyze where this team and program are headed. Looking at what they have ahead of them with 11 ECAC games remaining (not counting Union game) I think we can summarize:

13+ points - Turned things around and made a nice run going into playoffs. Outside shot at a bye but probably need to go 8-2-1 to achieve.
11-12 points - About expected. Lets see if we can win a round and possibly pull an upset to get to Placid.
8-10 points - Might eek out home ice in the first round. Not what we expected and without a trip to Placid this season is a complete failure.
Less than 8 points - Total disappointment and unless a miracle post-season run, alot of questions need to be asked.

Clear and concise. Also, probably right on the money. This team gets less than 8 points the remainder of this season and there has to be a lot of questions posed. We just have too many talented boys on this team for that kind of result.

Yeah, I can buy in to this as well. I don't know if there has been a season where I have been quite so up and down on the Engineers and I still don't know which is the real team. Still expecting that we are going to rebound here to look more like the team that everyone expected before the season started, but I like this idea of setting some boundaries on what meets the fans expectations and what doesn't.
