RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

Leagues Most Improved Player, First Team All-Star, top 5 in regular season scoring and now sitting 2nd overall in playoff scoring. Id say RPI is getting a pretty darn good player next season. :)

He isn't the only pretty darn good player that we are getting. It will be interesting where our recruiting class is ranked this year. The ECAC has several classes that should be highly ranked, and I suspect that this will cause the usual threads to be started this summer when that happens.

Depending upon how far each team goes in the playoffs, he could pass JL in scoring, however based upon seed Stouffville has already won a series that they shouldn't have.

No way to know how others will rate it-but I rate it ahead of the last 10 classes for us. I know we had Pirri and D'Amigo in one class-but this class seems deeper all the way through with several scorers showing 2 or almost 2 points per game. A couple of years with classes like this and we will return to being the beast of the East we were in the mid 80's.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

On Thursday, the Stouffville Spirit defeated the Newmarket Hurricanes 8-2 to lead their best-of-7 playoff series 1-0. Matt Neal had two goals (1 PPG) and two assists. He was named game MVP. :) http://ojhlsite.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=1547719

Neal's line is now 7-6-8-14-8.
Total 57-46-68-114-28.
Heres the video highlights from this game, Neals goals come at 1:47 and 2:27.

As someone pointed out before, we may still get more players for next fall.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

I was talking with Seth at the Alb. Aca./Berkshire game Wed. & I asked him to describe Jake Woods' game, " think Brutlag with tremendous offensive skills". SA also said that the game in which Woods broke his wrist that he played the rest of the game without telling the coaches because he didn't want to miss the rest of the game. There's your Brut. Two years before he gets here...this kid could be a beast before he sets foot on campus.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

The final Tier II Top-20 ranking http://ojhl.pointstreaksites.com/view/ojhl/news-21/news_23621. Cornwall is #6, Wellington is #7, Vernon is #9, Portage is #12, and Oakville is #16. That is all of the teams in Canada where our recruits play except for Stouffville. (also not the Toronto Aeros. ;) )

It means that there is a good chance that one or more RPI recruit will play in the RBC this year.

I was being conservative and just rounding it off-I too feel that you have to go back to 1995 at least and perhaps 1982. You know how high I am on JL and Neal-I still think the LMN trio will be the basis of a wonderful 4 year run for us.

Hopefully Zalewski can make it back onto the ice again this season for Vernon. He's been out of the lineup for a while now with that concussion. I cant remember the last time he played a game.
