Most interesting indeed. WaP mentioned yesterday that there are rumors that Schroeder is deferring.

Not quite sure what to think of this. Schroeder could be an absolute stud when he shows up, whereas Zalewski's ceiling is presumably not as high. I was looking forward to have an experienced, polished Zalewski show up in 2012 for four solid years of eligibility. Then again, Andrew Lord had lots of seasoning (and success in the BCHL) and was very ordinary in the offensive end of the ice at RPI.

I also highly doubt that Haggerty would defer; there was a hometown newspaper article where he and his dad specifically and repeatedly mentioned the prospect of substantial early playing time as the key factor in deciding on RPI. Playing another year in the USHL on a new team would simply not jive with those values.

I wonder what the chances are if he does defer that he ends up on Montys team in Dubuque.(assuming he's back in DBQ next season and not at MTU, PSU, etc...) I dont think he's been drafted by a USHL team yet and I assume he's still eligible this year.

I had the exact same thought.... Given that he's fresh out of H.S., I have no trouble if Schroeder ends up in the USHL.

At 6'2' 195, I'm happy to hear Zalewski is coming this fall. His brother was a relentless two way player at CCT and now in the AHL....I think Mike is gonna surprise a lot of folks.

I wonder if RPI was interested in Burlington Cougar leading goal scorer '90 F-Patrick Marsh, who will be heading to Clarkson in the fall. Found this article that mentions Patricks father played hockey for RPI.

Marsh, whose dad played college hockey at RPI, had three school visits planned but after visiting the school, cancelled his other two visits after going to Clarkson.

If RPI was one of the schools he was planning on visiting, it means that SA is still looking to add some more players for next season since Marsh is a '90.

Must be Rick Marsh's ('77) son. He was #2 in the video from the RPI-UNH playoff game in 1974 that was linked on another thread recently. We seem to be losing out on legacies, first Josh Jooris and now him.

I thought that the general understanding was not that we lost out on Jooris, but that we passed on him? Perhaps cherry-colored glasses, but it seemed to have some basis in fact.

Terriers goalie Jason Kasdorf came up big on the penalty kill making a big blocker stop as the penalty expired. It was his first start since Game 1 of the MJHL final, but he showed no rust, stopping 24 of the 25 shots fired his way.

"I felt pretty good," he said. "I was practising pretty hard the whole time and the guys played real well in front of me. They really helped me out. I give a lot of credit to them."

"We've said all year, we're OK with either guy we got in net," Spiller said of the team's depth in goal.

The coach said it was important to get both goalies in action on the weekend with the busy week ahead.

"Knowing that we have two in two here than three in three there then another two in two if it goes that long, we just felt we're going to have to get both guys going," Spiller said. "We felt the earlier in the series we could get both guys going the better."
