RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

There are only two other goalies listed who play in Canada JrA. Kasdorf seems to have a much higher ceiling than I would have initially thought. Would love to see him get a year of development in the USHL.
FWIW, just a quick comparison, York was ranked #29 in the css final rankings for 2007 and was drafted in the 6th round at 158th overall. Id say it seems pretty likely that JK will get drafted in June along with PK. Hopefully he gets some playing time in the next round as it seems Portage stuck with the hot goalie(Croswell) for the last round against Selkirk.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

I certainly hope they use the French, though I'm sure they probably won't.

French would be nice-it usually sounds so Montreal-Forum-like. I always loved the announcements made in French there when we visited.:)

It probably will be whatever JL wants. If it is in English, I hope that it sounds like La-Liberty, not La-Lil-Bert-E, but conceivably that is what he uses in English. I also hope that the accent appears on the final E on his uniform.

Thanks for the research. Assuming that Kasdorf isn't injured, which is probably the case because he has been listed as the backup, they may go with Croswell in the ANAVET Cup until he falters.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

On Tuesday, the Wellington Dukes defeated the Oakville Blades 4-2. Wellington has won the best-of-7 playoff series 4-1. Curtis Leonard had no points or penalties. Mark McGowan scored a goal. McGowan was named #3 star. Wellington will play in the Dudley Hewitt Cup. http://ojhlsite.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=1564490

Leonard's line is now 20-2-3-5-14.
Total 68-4-23-27-36.
McGowan's line is now 23-10-7-17-28.
Total 68-35-37-72-78.

Nice video.

I think you're spot on. I think we're all overlooking him (due to the amazing talent we've got coming in this class). His accomplishments have been objectively more substantial than what Polacek did in his senior year. And Schroeder has slightly better size. I think this kid could be a stud. Really makes me wonder if we might get to see glimpses of a Laliberte-Neal-Schroeder line next season, at least on the powerplay perhaps.
I have wondered about an all freshman line. The problems with this one is that there is little size and all three are listed as centers, although undoubtedly two could be moved to the wing. I would think that a more likely line would be with Haggerty replacing one of the others.

Furthermore, if you could have told me that we'd have a kid who played (essentially) a very regular shift in almost every game for the USNTDP team (averaging over half a point per game) and that he'd be our fourth most touted forward recruit, I'd call you insane.
Haggerty appears to have the most rounded game of the group.

It does look like we have a lot of offense coming in. Add this to the defense we added last year and Troy should be a happy place once again.:)

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

Ralph, with Zalewski, Kasdorf, Leonard and Laliberte still playing, has RPI ever had more then one recruit represented in the RBC in a single season?

I believe JL has been playing wing for most of the season with one of the Spinks centering and the game I saw Haggerty play in down at Q he was on wing as well.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

French would be nice-it usually sounds so Montreal-Forum-like. I always loved the announcements made in French there when we visited.:)

I think we could probably also hypothesize, although I could do research on it but don't have time right now (nor the burgeoning desire to know), that the PBP guy may be of at least some French-Canadian descent. Given Cornwall's proximity to Quebec, it's a possibility. I'm not trying to infer anything regarding Tim, Kurt, Perry, anyone else who will be working WRPI, Al from the PA, or anyone else who will happen to mention his name. Granted this is stemming from hearing "Pole-a-check" from visiting PBP announcers for 4 years, and Ralph is absolutely correct that what the player says is the final decision, but it's stimulating pre-work thought.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. IV

Ralph, with Zalewski, Kasdorf, Leonard and Laliberte still playing, has RPI ever had more then one recruit represented in the RBC in a single season?

I can't recall, but I suspect so. Perhaps we have had two on the same team.

BTW, Camrose (the RBC host) lost the AJHL finals, so Vernon is not guaranteed a place in the RBC. PDF of the RBC bracket: http://www.hockeycanada.ca/index.php/ci_id/163380/la_id/1.htm
