Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

Pretty good game last night, very tough defensively. We (babo, her husband, redhead, and I) saw Coach Vines in the stands. Granted they're still junior teams so they're a little rough around the edges, but the quality of hockey is high. I do think I know where our problems with taking shots and converting power plays came from, though...

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

Ed Weaver article about the recent recruits and other things http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/...4ce9f68230342174660373.txt?viewmode=fullstory.

Seth Appert has been busy on the recruiting trails since last weekend’s classic games between his Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers and rival Union.

He reportedly has the Engineers in among the final two choices for a couple of standout recruits.
TS*2?

Will the on-again, off-again Laliberte finally show up in Troy next summer?

Only time will tell.

If I were to bet (small-maybe $20), I’d say yes. But God only knows and time will tell.

RB: is it a certainty that the doublemint twins will only sign on as a pair? I would love to see them in Troy but that fills up a recruit class cholarship fund rather quickly.

I suspect so, but it is only based upon the fact that Cornwall had to trade to get one of them, as they drafted one and someone else the other one. I also don't think that they would want to be in Troy serially like the Burgdoerfers.

None of this is based upon any inside knowledge.

The scholarship fund may fill up, but hopefully some of our players can get some financial aid to work that out. Not to mention, we are going to need quite a few forwards. I realize we already have 4-5, but a few more wouldn't hurt to make sure the players are really fighting for ice time.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

Seems like the recruiters have been working overtime since September. It would be nice to hear something about a goaltender. I know that we are two years away from needing one, but it is a crucial position and I for one would like to be ready.

The Dubuque goaltender I saw Saturday Night was plain amazing, of course he also had a really good D-corps helping out. I think babo had told me he has not been recruited yet. Wonder if Coach Vines was also looking at him.
