RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

An excellent idea.

I agree that there is no guarantee, but JL is almost a guarantee.

Matt Neal has also been putting up pretty good numbers. In his case, I do think that it will take some time for him to fit. in. I think it will take Mike McGowan also time to produce. As far as Haggerty is concerned, it seems like he has been playing a defensive forward role, but he does regard himself as a finisher.

The effectiveness of a Juniors seasion does not guarantee effectiveness at the Collegiate level. Look at CJ Lee, for example. His campaign through Juniors was terrific, but had a very slow start his freshman year (although we can attest some of that to injury), and it took him a while to get on the ball. On the other side, look at Chase Polacek. There was much concern that he wouldn't be able to adapt to the Collegiate game because he came straight from High School. However, he has been our go-to guy on the team for all four years, and was even a consideration for the Hobey Baker award.

How many of you have seen any of the recruits play (other than the obvious ones that have been discussed at length)? I'd like to hear impressions...

Other then seeing JL play numerous times, i've seen McGowan play last March in the OJHL finals against Brock Higgs and Kingston. All I can really tell you is he's a speedy guy based on a couple plays he made during the game unfortunetely I dont remember much else because I wasnt aware that RPI was after him and I was focusing more of my attention to Higgs. Im still undecided if im making the trip out to Youngstown on Saturday and then Stouffville on Sunday. If I go i'll be sure to take lots of pics and videos of the BRO, Bradley and Neal. :)

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. II

If you go, make sure to bring a wide angle lens:eek:
True dat :D

Also noted Ryan Haggerty and the US U-18 team plays their closest game to Troy on Sat. 1/22 vs Quinnipiac. If you dont wanna miss the RPI home game vs Dartmouth, they play in Providence against the Friars the following day.

Do you have tickets yet? If so, what section? I'd like to try to get the same area.

JL seems to just show up most nights on the scoresheet with a couple points-he will be fun to watch in Troy next year.

On Thursday, the Oakville Blades defeated the Brampton Capitals 4-3 in overtime. Mark McGowan scored the OT goal and had 2 assists. He was named #1 star. http://ojhlsite.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=1345975

McGowan's line is now 24-11-12-23-26.

Looks like we got another good one coming. The next few years starting to look brighter and brighter.

Video highlights are up on tvcogeco, JL's shorthanded goal comes around :57 seconds, not pretty but still counts. Couple nice plays by the twins as well.

That's my neck of the woods (and his). I'll have to head over to The Bank for that one.
