He separated his shoulder and will need an x-ray. He also had stitches in his tongue to close up a cut gotten on an earlier shift.

Shoulder separations come in all different severities-and several degrees. We probably will not know anything until the medical tests are complete. We can hope this is just a first degree separation without any capsular or ligament damage. Fingers crossed here.

Here it is:

No audio on the 1st period due to recording device error.

Coolness. Actually, as a thought: I heard a rumor that WRPI keeps archives of some of the hockey games. Now, I don't know if this is substantiated or not, nor do I know their selectivity of games if it is. Obviously they have (or at least had) Freakout 2002 (I remember hearing those highlights on the radio in my freshman year, definitely '02 because of the presence of the third horn and it was Freakout vs. CCT), but I'm not sure what else is around. It could be possible to sync the two up. Granted, I don't know how much effort you would really want to put into this for an exhibition game, but I suppose if a DVD were to be made of this season with the original calls in there, it's a thought.

Ive been trying to figure out different ways the schedule might pan out if everything falls into place the way they are saying. I guess you could possibly work travel partners for RPI-UVM(would be the longest partner trip around 3hrs, only about half hour longer then the current PU-QU trip ECAC has now), UML-UMA, BC-BU, UNH-MC and NU-PC.

Then for the Notre Dame/Maine games RPI could play two at ND while UVM would play two at Maine and then later on in the season switch where RPI plays two at home vs Maine and UVM is home vs ND. I think that would work out evenly if I did it right (11h,11a), although I dont think Maine would be very happy only seeing UNH, BC, etc.. at home just every other year.

I don't think you would see true travel partners in the new HE. I could see ND only play each team home twice, every other year except for one team and I'm guessing that could be RPI if they were the other team added. Would balance out the 11 home & away and the traditional HE schools would still have home games against everyone but ND each year.

I think that there is a problem with that. You are saying that travel partners would be used except for ND and one other school. Let's say for the sake of agrument that these are the pairs:

1. UMO-UNH
2. UML-MC
3. BU-BC
4. NU-PC
5. UVM-UMA
6. RPI-ND

If we do things like the ECAC has done it except for pair 6, then one week 1 is at 2 and 3 is at 4. But what would they do with 5 at 6? The only logical way would be for say UVM to play at ND (or vice versa) and UMA and RPI to play a home and home. By this method RPI would be playing home and home against someone every week except when they are playing ND. It would work when RPI was playing some schools, but a home and home with UMO wouldn't work. It would make more sense if both RPI and ND would play 2 games at one site vs. everyone, but would RPI (or some other school) go for this, probably not.

An alternative would be if when RPI is playing a distant school (whatever that is defined as), they only play one game that weekend, but that would really muck up the schedule having a lot of one-game weeks. Is there a team centrally enoguh located that they could always play home-and-homes?

I plan on going to the RPI game at Notre Dame on October 21st. Is anyone else going? I believe this is the first ever game at ND's new arena, and so I was also wondering if there is a certain section that those who are going are getting tickets in.

Given where South Bend is, I think RPI is the most centrally located in terms of overall geographic spread. I still think the answer is a Thur/Sat or Fri/Sun schedule for RPI/ND as a home pair. HE already plays a lot of games on Sunday anyhow. No matter how it shakes out, ND has the bad travel schedule - and it would be worse in NCHC. One alternative to mitigate the issue for RPI is to have ND's travel partner change from year to year. Use UMASS and UVM on a 3 way rotation.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Season: Posts on a Message Board

Of course, for all the reasons other posters have previously mentioned. :)

And more.

The possibility of BGSU joining ND in HE was recently mentioned on the HE thread. It was dismissed by some people because of the apparent precarious sitation of BG's team. That was my thought also, but I wonder. Might it not make sense for HE to have two western teams, fairly near each other, for the sake of home-and-home series? BG is still without a league for 2013-14.

I meant centrally located not including ND.

Friday-Sunday in that situation might indeed work since it would only be once a year..

No Ralph I'm saying that I think there would not be a travel partner system and the schedule would be somewhat random
though I could see several weekends where you would go to UNH/Maine or RPI/UVM type of arrangement.

I guess that is the way that HE does it now, but I think that travel partners would simplify scheduling.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Season: Posts on a Message Board

one more offering on the move to HE from Julie Robyenhymer.... Finally, in some college hockey related news, it looks like Notre Dame will announce on Wednesday that they will join Hockey East and presumably bring RPI as a 12th team with them (RIT would fill the subsequent void in the ECAC). Yesterday, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced that they would start their inaugural season in 2013-14 with eight members - North Dakota, Denver, Minnesota-Duluth, St Cloud, Colorado College, Nebraska-Omaha, Miami and Western Michigan. The Irish have spent the summer debating on whether to join the NCHC, Hockey East or go as an independent. Of course they could always join the Big Ten, but that means all of their other sports would have to do the same and as you probably know, the Notre Dame football team, which is independent, has their own, very lucrative, TV contract with NBC that they would have to forfeit (or at the very least share) should they join a conference and if you join the Big Ten it's all sports or nothing. Weighing heavy on Notre Dame's decision was a TV schedule and interestingly enough in a press release from last week about their games that would be televised this year, they noted that Versus, a member of the NBC Sports network, had yet to announce their college hockey schedule for this season. The plot thickens.....

I saw a post recently (unfortunately I forgot which thread it was in) that said that it was going to be general admission, with season ticket holders having the ability to go in for an earlier general admission.

I believe I read on the ND thread that the RPI game will be the inaugural event. Fans were annoyed because it was announced more or less last minute and is also USC weekend and flights, hotels, car rentals and the like are jacked up and scarce, so if you are planning to attend you might want to keep that in mind. Is it possible that hockey is not the no. 1 sport on that campus? ;)
