Re: RPI 2011-12 Season: Posts on a Message Board

its all relative. those 2 years you had solid tournament showings, last two, huge flops.

if your looking for 5th or 6th and chokes in tourn, you have it and you are on rise
In 07-08 we were swept in the first round. Solid tournament showing!!!11!one!elventy-one!!

In 08-09 we rode a hot goalie to a three-game win streak. Any team can string together three wins on the back of a good goalie (See: Brown Bears, 09-10).

You have failed to convince me that the team is in a worse or similar state now as compared to two years ago. Based on process of elimination, I am left to believe that the RPI Engineers are in a better state when compared to two years ago. This falls in line with a "program on the rise."

Edit: You also failed to answer my question. Which would you prefer?

WaP will have a podcast at 3:30 http://www.withoutapeer.com/2011/09/todays-podcast-david-kilfoil-mike.html.

It should be interesting if their underground lair has been cleared of water. ;)

It's an underwater lair, Ralph. No ground between here and God's blue sky! ;) And yes, we did finally get the lair cleared out - the water rose up above our airlock and lightly flooded about six inches but we're all set now and raring to go! WaP 1, Irene 0. :D

Thanks for the plug, and if anyone missed the awesome interviews with David or Mike, I encourage them to surf on over and check it out on demand.

Close. :D

Good show, BTW. Do you intend to keep the podcasts at 30 minutes this year as opposed to last year when they seemed to average about 2 hours long?

Last year's shows tended to last between 60 and 90 minutes by the time we wrapped up (we usually scheduled shows for 120 minutes just to make sure we didn't run long), but this year we're pretty much going to strip down the podcasts and keep them more compact - mostly just interviews. We may lengthen to 45 to 60 minutes later in the season if necessary but for right now we figure we can do two good interviews or one in-depth interview in 30 minutes. The possibility also exists that if the need arises, we can do two different podcasts in a given week.

That's good. Although the material was all interesting, they often seemed too long in one stretch.

After reading the RPI fans humiliate themselves on this thread, I'm reminded how badly I hope Hockey East takes them. Dumping UVM and RPI over a few years is the best thing to happen to the ECAC. Oh, and RPI is on the rise?? HAHAHAHAHA

Re: RPI 2011-12 Season: Posts on a Message Board

i did until the cast of the "Emperors New Clothes" chimed in

Ah, I see, you are not only a man of your word but also a person with tremendous will power who takes responsibility for his own choices in life as well!

:p

I should stop now, I promised my parents not to get into a battle of wits against an unarmed opponent....

I'd like to point out that this was posted by one of Brown's four fans.

Any good bargains down in the basement?

First post today was post #148. This thread is seeing more action than when D'Amigo bolted.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Season: Posts on a Message Board

ECAC

2011--5th place
RPI 11-9-2

2010-- 6th place
RPI 10-9-3

ECAC Tournament

2011 first round loss to last placed team
2010 first round loss to next to last placed team

over last 2 seasons league record has gotten worse, tourn record/results worse/
worst ecac tourn relative performance in league

Rise on

Please ignore their out of conference results because clearly the Pairwise does not take anything but league standings and playoffs into consideration.

No sense in baiting him anymore. I've given him enough to chew on. ;)

Anyways, to get back to our upcoming season... given this is an exhibition game, do you think it is likely that Acadia will play a trap against us? I realize it's boring hockey, but it would definitely be great practice for us, as we'll see it often in league play. Not to mention, playing against a team used to the big ice will help prepare us for Colorado College.

Having just listened to the podcast, I enjoyed the show. I like the shorter format. As much as I appreciated the information given about how everyone was doing in men's and women's play, I sometimes caught myself skipping past those parts.

I take it no phone calls or e-mail questions during the podcasts? I realize you had one call-in throughout the entire first season, but perhaps people would want to e-mail in questions?

Did Brown beat top seeded Yale? Did Colgate beat top seeded Union? Looks like teams got hot at the right time. Cleaned up playing poker at ac last year. Hope my tickets are good in Providence. RPI record against Union & Yale was pretty good last year better than any one else?
I skipped over this post earlier.

I'll take a look into it later tonight. On a quick glance over the past two years (because apparently that's what we're limited to for sample size), I'd say we did pretty well against Union, but Yale might have a better record vs them by a smidge. Without even looking at Yale's schedule, I'd say it's a pretty good bet that we had the best record against the Elis.

We are all jones-ing for hockey to start again. Think of it as a forechecking practice session so to speak...keep the other team bottled up in their end....maybe try to goad someone into losing his cool while you keep yours.....

I remember at the RPI QU game in 2010 in Hamden, we were right next to the ice and Foss was carrying the puck up along the boards right in front of us, and a QU player was taking a bead on him....Foss saw him out of the corner of his eye and actually grinned a little, he kept his head down, passed the puck, and suddenly stopped short, and the QU player smashed into the boards in front of him, missing him entirely. The QU guy was annoyed and dug at Foss with his stick, Foss pushed the stick away, looked away, smiled, and skated off. It was classic.

......and wasn't that a great move Jerry.....I hope he is investing his money well.....he's going to need it!!! As far as the traffic, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You may not agree, you may find it funny, it may irritate you to the nth degree, but when all is said and done, we are all entitled to our own opinion. Now, as Brady commented with regards to the Patriots fans, it is time for the Let's Go Red (or whatever they want to call it now) faithful to begin getting primed for Acadia on Saturday night. BTW, you think we'll see Coach Pecknold there pre-scouting?:)
