BTW, Chris Knowlton just scored a SH goal for Denver. Good to see Jim's son playing well... Also, with the two wins over the weekend, does SA go with a goalie rotation next weekend? It would be kinda tough to bench either one for the entire series.

Always a good night when you beat Cornell.

Special thanks for booing our alma mater, oh kings of classy.

EHF-There have been several differences. Some nights it hasn't been there, but when it is-the results are pretty good. Tinordi is quickly becoming an extremely valuable boy out there. I don't really don't care which line you put him on (although I prefer him with Malchuk) he makes his presence felt. McGowan is showing that he was a great pick up also. I still have dreams of an L-M-N line in the future and maybe it will come to pass. The freshmen have taken over. Their energy especially late in games is infectious. We won tonight with two valuable veterans sitting out-O'Grady and AAG. And of course you are right-Cullen is possessed. But then again so are a group of others. The penalty kill was a major reason we won both games (we did take 17 penalties to our opponents only getting 7). Credit the guys who did the work-Malchuk did all the little things and the defensemen were rock solid. I really hope that people notice how well Luke Curadi has come along. His game just keeps improving-and our record seems to be better for it. I hope that whatever has happened continues-I would hope that we did not give everythign out there this weekend and we left it all on the ice with nothing left for the playoffs. I would like to think we are peaking at the right time and not one week too soon. I could not be prouder of these boys-if this week did not show what heart and soul they have-nothing ever will. Just an emotional 2¢

Ditto, Doc & EHF ;)

Nice win and crawl from the grave tonight, I am glad Yale is not facing RPI next week.

With the Engineers scoring the OT winner @ Lynah :) ... just makes me want to give my regards to Broadway :D

Thank you for beating Cornell tonight! Who knows, our paths might cross again in two weeks.

Nice finish to the regular season for you guys; congrats on the strong play. Possible 'Gate '10-'11 like playoff run on the horizon?

That would be quite ironic, since the 'Gate playoff run began with RPI and continued through Union. How great would it be to beat hated Clarkson and then possibly Union? But let's take the series one at a time.

I didn't watch tonights game, just listened to it, but you could see these changes during last nights game for sure. Tonight, the WRPI announcer called a few nice plays by Lenoard who has been steady in the D-zone for a good portion of the year. 100 % agree with you on McGowan, he has grown into a solid center in the past month or so, good work in the corners, showed some speed on last nights goal, and a good shot as well. He could be a handfull the next 3 years. Id really like to see them cut down on the penalties tho.

Totally opposite feeeling from this time last week to right now. As down as I was after last Saturday nights game, it is the total opposite tonight. Feels great to beat them on their home ice. Lets hope they keep it going next weekend at Cheel. We played them pretty tough here a month ago.

Curtis Leonard was a BEAST out there.

I'd like to see a fairly reffed game at Lynah. It was 10 on 6 the whole night, and the team with 10 STILL lost.

Fire Appert backers come in and try to burst this bubble of good feelings us fans that stuck with this team when you decided to jump ship, beginning.........................................now?

What a surprise it was to come home from a night out and see that this team fought and earned 4 points in Central NY. 2 wins at Cheel will be tough to get but if this team plays the way it did this weekend we may be able to do it and move on. But for tonight, Im going to sit back and enjoy these wins.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part V: Don't Stop Believing

We are still near the bottom of evry stat I could find-nationally and overall and even limited to the ECAC. But this one is surprising from the ECAC League stats only---

Combined Special Teams: Totals PCT
1 Rensselaer 100/190 52.6
2 Clarkson 103/199 51.8
3 Yale 105/203 51.7
4 Cornell 88/173 50.9
5 Harvard 90/177 50.8
6 Quinnipiac 99/196 50.5
7 St. Lawrence 101/201 50.2
8 Brown 106/212 50.0
9 Princeton 89/183 48.6
10 Colgate 101/209 48.3
11 Dartmouth 76/161 47.2
12 Union 91/194 46.9

Who would have thunk it?

Fish: I have the utmost respect for our coach. He is a great asset to this program and I am overjoyed that we have him locked up for the next several years. But I would much prefer to give the credit this weekend to where I think it belongs-this team just took it upon themselves to show that they were not done-that they had not thrown in the towel and that they could play with anyone. They shook off horrible officiating-come on, 6 penalties to us versus 1 on Cornel? 11 on us versus 6 on Colgate? I give full credit to the senior captains who led by example-Malchuk and Bergin could have easily just played like their careers were coming to an end and they did not. And the freshmen, who played like this will be their team and they want to show that they will have to be reckoned with. We played 2 nationally ranked teams in their barns with horrible home town reffing and we played 120 minutes of inspired hockey-and all of this from a team with the 3rd worst goals per game offense in the country. These boys played RPI hockey-the RPI hockey I remember from the many great years i have seen the program. I have no idea if they will go any further this year-no one can possibly know-but no matter how poorly most of this year had gone, no matter how frustrating it has been for everyone-I will remember this year and this group as showing incredible character and heart. Now-I'll get off my soapbox and let these boys have the time to think about what they have accomplished this weekend-and get ready to do it all over again in the dreaded North Country (against what i will always consider our greates rival). Just very proud to still bleed RPI RED.

Something about combined special teams has never really sat well with me. You look at it and it almost never makes sense.

Very well said, and I realize that you didn't mean to omit the OT when you wrote "120 minutes of inspired hockey", as that may have been in the most inspired hockey by RPI in several years.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part V: Don't Stop Believing

Wow, gentlemen this was an awesome weekend. Spoiling the Dear Leader's Cleary Cup hopes makes it all worth it. I have gone to Cornell's website and the Ithaca Journal and no comments from Mike. Keep it classy Mike!!!! From all accounts Murphy and Feola tried to give us the shaft but the team fought through it. I am particularly happy for Paddy Cullen. He grinds it all the time.
