All right, I shall quit speculating.

I shall wait for someone to communicate clearly why the team did not show up. I feel that I am on solid ground in stating that somebody owes an explanation and an apology to the fathers who brought their sons to that non-event.

I hope that communication comes soon.
We're talking about the State here, right? Who would you wager screwed it up? ;)

Hooray, the peanut gallery is chiming in.

Ok so I get the cost of gas, and changing of schedules by people to attend but cmon folks your getting worked up over a free event that didnt happen....Sure it looks bad for RPI but other than seeing something posted here, I had no clue it was even going on. For those of you who want something out of this, just think if you chose to have your playoff tickets rolled over towards next year season tickets your already saving money. :) Im pretty sure you could have found something else to do once the team didnt show.... the new york state museum is right there so why not show the children some history.

Or, if the rink was open, rent some skates for the kids!

Yeah and then sue the state when you fall and break your arm.....nevermind state cant afford to pay a lawsuit, better off just asking for a signed Sandra Lee cookbook.

And they wonder why children today are obese...

Im sure it was just a little miscommunication someplace. Was this event promoted anyplace else besides on that government website? I didnt know about it until it was brought up here. Perhaps the team cancelled a while ago and that website never removed the ad.
Channel 13 news had a piece about it around 6:30am on Monday morning encouraging people to attend, they stated it would be a great place to see the team skate and mentioned former RPI players had played in the NHL. Not sure where 13 news got it from.

Probably the same place we got it.

FWIW, I just finished listening to a CHN "hockey on campus" podcast from a couple weeks ago with guest Paul Kelly, in which he states by this summer we will know if the NCAA will allow the use of halfshield visors as early as next season. It sounds like there is a very good chance this happens.

I think it will be interesting to see, if they go through with this, how it could change the way the college game is currently played.

Hopefully the next Matt Murley didn't go to Albany to watch RPI, because we may have lost him from the Class of about 2028.

I don't think so.

Reason I ask is because it's an incredibly effective (and free) marketing medium for organizational heads to communicate with their stakeholders, particularly when they need to do so in real-time.

This would have been a perfect situation fo the use of such a marketing tool.

Thanks for the tip, cake eater.

Well, we certainly are positioning ourselves for the greatest up-down-up in ECAC history at least.....NCAA to 12th in ECAC to NCAA again in 2012-2013....:)

After what happened to Buffalo after winning the President's Trophy, I'm not holding my breath.
