Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

Haven't posted in a while, but I believe now is a time more than ever for a little reminder - The Ten Commandments of RPI Hockey:

I.
Thou shalt believe in Seth Appert
II.
Thou shalt respect thy idol, Father Puckman
III.
Thou shalt not call thy own goalie 'Sieve'
IV.
Remember thy hockey schedule, to keep it holy
V.
Honor thy coach and thy players
VI.
Thou shalt kill all penalties
VII.
Thou shalt always remember that Clarkson sucks
VIII.
Thou shalt giveth the puck to the kid
IX.
Thou shalt not bicker with thy fellow fans
X.
Thou shalt not leave thy holy house before thy team

Here's hoping things turn around in a big way starting in a couple of weeks!

OK...I admit to # 8...

Wow... I go to play poker with a buddy, and the forum explodes! Oh heck, just in case while I'm asleep:

RPI 2011-12 Part V: Thou shalt not bicker with thy fellow fans

Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway... I'm definitely not bullish on this team anymore, though it's more a function of facing our current situation than anything. We haven't been healthy all year long and just when it looks like we're getting better on that front, suddenly we're not. Cullen back, but Haggerty out three games now. Koudys a scratch on Saturday. Still no Neal, who could really give a boost on the draw if nothing else.
Does anyone know if Koudys was a health scratch or if there is also something physically wrong with him? I don't recall seeing anything mentioned.

10 coms of hockey.....why does Seth get a pass? Is it the Kool Aid?

Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

Here's what is great about this break at this time...the coaches have much pressure on them at this point...I believe THEY have a right to a break from the "what the heck happened" syndrome. The players get a chance to be home (which is a normal thought). Every family has an "I s**k lately" candidate on any given day (we all know those moments) so maybe the entire group gets a chance to find their car keys, get the toilet paper off their collective shoe heel and wipe the milk off their newly shaved Movember bald spots. when they return, we get to watch January Hockey . IMHO it never disappoints.
You are right right right right. Lets go watch some of the best athletes in the country compete. Let the chips fall where they may. Lets have some fun.

Very well. In accordance with your wishes, rather than merely post the steps to block, I have removed you as a friend on Facebook and also blocked you, which should have the same effect from your end.

Further, I shall put you on ignore so that our interaction comes to an end.

I don't know what set you off. Guess I never will. When an olive branch is met with such hostility, I know when to stop trying.

A disappointing night.

Wow sounds like a Dexter confession. Very Scary. Yuch

Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

The mini-break between the first Union game and RIT seemed have a positive impact. I know the team was back at practice today, but hopefully a longer stretch without games will allow them to relax and focus on what's important-having fun playing hockey. I'm convinced that that sort of mental approach does more for a team than all the practice in the world. Just look at the Cardinals-several players have said that they were just having fun, not putting too much stake into games despite the fact they were essentially playing elimination-type games since mid-August.

Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

Time to confess my sins.

I.
Thou shalt believe in Seth Appert
There are certainly times that I have doubted his ability although I wouldn't post it here.
Oops, I just did.
II.
Thou shalt respect thy idol, Father Puckman
Puckman can do no wrong. (Look to the left.)
III.
Thou shalt not call thy own goalie 'Sieve'
I have never done that.
IV.
Remember thy hockey schedule, to keep it holy
I don’t have it committed to memory, but I haven't missed listening to a game yet this season.
V
Honor thy coach and thy players
Not sure what this means, but I don’t post disrespectful comments about them. E-mail is another story.
VI.
Thou shalt kill all penalties
They give penalties to fans?
VII.
Thou shalt always remember that Clarkson sucks
Most certainly, although in commandment form Clarkson sucketh.
VIII.
Thou shalt giveth the puck to the kid
I have never gotten a puck.
IX.
Thou shalt not bicker with thy fellow fans
I try not to, although some have tried my patience.
I assume this refers to fellow RPI fans, or thus does also rule out bickering with fans of other teams?
X.
Thou shalt not leave thy holy house before thy team
I violate this one often. I even let the forecast of snow cause me to leave town early. :)

Was confused as to why there was little chatter about this. Koudys is certainly one of the top three guys on the blue line this season no matter how you're looking at it. Can't imagine it was related to his play.

That was my thought too. Although I figured there was a possiiblity that SA didn't like something about his recent play, I figured that illness or injury was more likely. Hopefully it wasn't another injury at practice. If it was the flu, he should be fine by the UConn tourney.

Who cares. I must admit it wasn't as good as that Ironman one you came up with.

I'm so done talking about this. I say one thing about something insignificant and everyone explodes. Whatever. These are the same people that sat on their hands when the Bemans of the world lambasted the coach without cause. When I suggest that a 3-13-0 team just may not have it, everyone loses their minds.

Of course, we were told Haggerty had the flu too, and he missed two straight weeks. But yes, if he's sick (and if Haggerty truly was sick), hopefully we'll see both back in time for UConn. If we're lucky, Neal too since we were told he wouldn't be back before Christmas.

They give penalties to fans?

"RPI Rule II": Artificial noisemakers are not to be used during the course of play, penalized by a bench minor. Enacted because of Freakout 1987.

Or how about when those Schenectadopes throw oranges onto the ice?

The only thing I saw that could remotely be considered as such were a couple giveaways during the RIT game, but given the actions of some other players (I won't mention any other names because it's already been mentioned by another poster), that can't be the reason. Perhaps since it's a non-league match-up and we have pretty much no chance at being a TUC unless we win the ECAC championship, he wanted to give Guy a chance to play his way back in.

True, but the fans don't get the chance to kill the penalties.
