Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

There is nothing on the other ahnd to indicate that there is any interest from either side with the twins.

Or that our coaching staff are interested. We're the only ones who have been clamoring for the Spink twins.

Whatever's in the drinking water in Cornwall, I think we should import some of it. :D

Yes. When I said "either side," I meant RPI's staff and the twins.

QFT

And remember that Leboeuf is originally from Florida. That probably sits well with JL. :D

I think he is from Bedford,Que at some point in his upbringing. I think he may be a very important piece to the JL puzzle. JL's best language is French and Lebeouf speaks it well. Maybe SA is trying to bring in alittle bit of home for Jake to help seal the deal. Look at what the TampaBay lightning did for this years 2nd overall pick dman Victor Hedmen. They signed several players from Sweeden to help make it more like home for the young stud.
I mentioned earlier on that it was common knowledge that everyone in Cornwall knew JL was iffy at best to go to RPI and that he hadn't even taken SAT. JL now has a date in March for taking SAT.

Well, I was pretty sure he wasn't Cuban. :D Haitian, maybe. :)

We have suspected that one of the reasons Marty O'Grady was recruited was to entice Brandon Pirri to spurn major juniors. If it worked, we got a heck of a young workhorse in O'Grady, too. Sounds like this could be a similar situation.

That's a good sign. If he wasn't likely to do well on the SAT (given prior academic experience) the coaching staff probably wouldn't have bothered in the first place.

It has been told to me from a reliable source that Pirri informed/advised/urged Appert re: grabbing Marty O...i.e. he knew Marty could flat out play and knew that Marty didn't have or hadn't accepted any offers when they were playing in the WJ tourney.

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

Good point about Houle leaving. That probably hurt CCT a bit.

It hurts alot! Not only in the recruiting but JF brought a very high level of PASSION to the program. If anyone ever saw JF play he gave 150% every shift every game. He would do anything to win block shots, sell soda pop if thats what it took. I've watched several games this year at Cheel and the Knights compete level is way down if you compare it to years past. How many other D1 programs with as many NHL draft picks have that bad a record. They might miss him, you think!

We appreciate all of your insights from the front in Cornwall. We hope and expect this will continue beyond this season. :p

If I were Leboeuf and I was interested in gaining more "street cred" in hockey circles, I'd go back to using Beford, PQ as my hometown. :D :D

They're is no doubt he was a big loss. As you know, Clarkson is bruised and battered team that is short on bodies. I would note that they have been competing much better of late including wins over P & Q and taking Yale to OT in New Haven before losing last Saturday.

Ironically, isn't that (arguably) what led to us having to defer JL?

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

No. While Seth wasn't sure how man of them he'd land (D'Amigo, Pirri and JL) they all were all on the radar...Marty was the party crasher. :p

Right, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't COUNTING on landing all 3 :p

He had JL already, and went after Pirri, JD'A, and Grant. Grant went to MSU, but he only expected to get one of the three.

I'm glad he crashed the party :D
I can't wait to watch him for 3 more years. I hope other " party crashers" turn out like him.

This is where we found out that he is originally from Florida. As you wrote, he now lists Bedford as his home.
