I assume PSU will be hiring a coach sooner rather than later to get things organized, start recruiting, etc. I've heard that they are going to be paying $300-400K, making it one of the highest paying jobs in the nation. I just hope they leave our guys alone, but my guess is that either coach would be allowed to entertain an offer, despite being "under contract".
I would expect the PSU coach to be hired soon.

For that salary I would consider coming out of semiretirement.;)

Would PSU also offer cancellation penalties from the previous contract, or do you think they would stoop to that level? That's the only way I could see how a coach would ever break contract.

There is no truth to the rumor that my forthcoming retirement on 1/1/11 is in anyway connected to PSU. :D

I was basing my assumption on the likelihood that both coaches would have a few jobs specified in their contracts or conditions under which they could consider other offers. For example I would not be surprised if Appert had a clause allowing him to take the Denver job or perhaps Leaman opting for the Harvard position. This is all suppostion on my part though. I don't think PSU or another school would otherwise interfere with a valid and subsisting contract.

Sorry to hear that, they're gonna need a good statistician. :D Does your pending gold watch ceremony mean you're gonna make it to a few more games?

Seeing as how every head coach they will interview will be under contract, is PSU supposed to eliminate all HC's from the candidate pool?

They will not take another programs HC. Will be either a D 1 asst, AHL guy or an hc FROM ushl.

Key is going to be recruiting and those are the guys who get it done.

They should grab Bavis from BU

In honor of Scott Halpern, today is 25 September 2010. There are 10 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 5 October for the start of next season.

Ralph, Congrats on your upcoming retirement. The mothership (USCHO) should pick you up as a consultant.

An article about ECAC media day and RPI in the TU a few days ago http://www.timesunion.com/sports/article/RPI-Who-s-gone-no-worry-668976.php.

I have noticed that Seth's tone in this interview and w/ Ken was a tad bit snarky. This is not a criticism but an observation I think he is tired of talking about the JDA and Pirri situation. He's moving on and wants to talk about this team. I think Seth is going to have his best year behind the pine.

Why not? Some are trying to put it up like without those two we're hosed. Ya know what, to heck with careful picking, I say this year we do just as well, if not better.

I think a former NHLer will get the job. Former Flyer or Penguin to be precise.

I couldnt agree more. I'm kinda tired about the discussion of what we would have een or what we are not going to be because BP and JDA had the opportunity to move on. They moved and that is fantastic for them (thought BP played really well last night - the game was on the NHL network), and just shows the strength of what Seth and the rest of the organization can bring in. I am happy. I think we have a great team, and I think its only going to get better...so again, lets focus on the future rather than the past and what coulda beens.
