Re: RPI 2010 Offseason VI: The NHL's CBA Doesn't Appear to Have Been a Boon for the Tute.

Blonde question: will the contest be played on the game thread or is there going to be ANOTHER thread I will have to follow? I know the answer must be obvious but humor me?

I believe burgie12's implication is that there will be yet another thread to follow.

If you thought you were confused by our thread setup, wait until we get into the season. We'll have yet another thread for the specific weekend of games, and then tack on the score thread for each game in a different sub-forum (although who knows if it will be eclipsed by WaP's "new hotness").

Well, Burgie just suggested another thread, and I agreed. :D It wouldn't make much sense to put it in the game thread because there are two game threads on a typical weekend. I suppose that it could be in my weekly thread of us and Union vs. whomever, but that might imply that we would have to include Union's games also in this, which I wouldn't want. (Your mileage may vary.)

I know this belongs on the RPI/pros thread, but folks who don't check over there often might be interested to know that Kirk MacDonald will skate for the Bruins tonight in Rochester, vs. the Panthers.

I cannot think of anyone who deserves this to be successful more than Captain Kirk. He is a class act all the way-here's hoping we have his career to follow for a long time to come. I can still see his Freakout goal against Brown every time I close my eyes.:D

Hopefully he is still called to play in the NHL through the regular season. One of my games (i.e. the ones I bought from someone I know that sells off part of season tickets) this year at HSBC is against the Bruins.

I had a feeling...I'm sure they are operating in a temporary office with folding chairs and a bingo table. :D

I always felt he had never had the chance to reach his potential at RPI. The illness of course being the major interference. Years ago I had this conversation with an NHL scout who I accompanied to an RPI game at Harvard who felt Kirk way back then had at least borderline NHL potential. it is just good to see him get the chance. :)

In honor of Bo Dolan, today is 24 September 2010. There are 11 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 5 October for the start of next season.

Ken Schott reports that Union has given Nate Leaman a five-year contract extension. Looks like they wanted to keep him from bolting for Penn State. ;)

I had that reaction when I first read it on the Union thread.

Doesn't mean he won't, just means they'll have to offer him more $$$. :D

True, but it would indicate that Union would like to keep him.

He received an extension earlier, although not one as long. :p

2014 IIRC, nae?

By then, Penn State will have a coach and a team playing independent.

I assume PSU will be hiring a coach sooner rather than later to get things organized, start recruiting, etc. I've heard that they are going to be paying $300-400K, making it one of the highest paying jobs in the nation. I just hope they leave our guys alone, but my guess is that either coach would be allowed to entertain an offer, despite being "under contract".
