Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

The funny thing about all of this is where has anything official confirmed these talks (exclude yahoo because its yahoo) no NHL site, AHL site , ECAC site , RPI site Official AHL twitter even gives a hint of any interest at all...... if Jerry is indeed on vacation where did this speculation come from?! on that note i give up on the matter and whatever happens is going to happen.

GO RED!

Well it could be possible that the leagues aren't allowed to comment until something official actually happens, similar to how coaches and the school can't talk about a recruit until they're enrolled. Of course what do I know...

Did anyone lose sleep on this? Does 3 minutes actually count? :D

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

I better go to bed because I had to 2 rum and cokes at home after I got home from the dinner. Maybe DrD will post his remedy for hangover so I can try it in the morning :D

Never go to sleep for the night after drinking heavily without having a fatty meal of some sort-bacon and eggs would do just fine. Also, drink plenty of fluids(non-alcoholic) when you get home. Basically all you can do to try to avoid the brain dehydration tht causes most of the problem. Just a friendly tip.
BTW much less likely to get a hangover if you only drink things you can see through.:)

Anyone care to guess who would replace JD'A on the line with Polacek and Brutlag if he leaves? Helfrich? Cullen?

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

Dr. Baer, can't open this link. Anything new? hate to bother.

Many teams want a piece of Maple Leaf draft pick Jerry D’Amigo, but he might wind up in the shadow of the Air Canada Centre.

A league source confirmed a Yahoo Canada report Monday night that the college left winger is about to ditch his remaining NCAA eligibility with Rensselaer Polytechnic for a pro contract. That could eventually steer him toward the Kitchener Rangers, who own his CHL rights, but the 210 pound New York State native desires to try out with the big team first.

“If I do sign, it’s to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs,” D’Amigo told the Kitchener-Waterloo Record.

D’Amigo was chosen 158th overall in 2009, but came to prominence at the 2010 world juniors for Team USA with Toronto GM Brian Burke watching in the stands. Burke said at the end of last season he expected D’Amigo to stay with the RPI program, but things have changed.

D’Amigo had 10 goals and added 24 assists in 35 games with RPI and tied Taylor Hall of Canada as the third-leading scorer at the world junior tournament with 12 points.

If he ends up with the Rangers, D’Amigo might play with national team linemate Jeremy Morin.
There is also, so far, one comment which sort of congratulates Burke.

RPI 2010 Off-season thread VI: Is it too early to think about this? :p

Though we've now seen multiple sources, most of them are re-hashing the same stuff. I'm not at all trying to "get hopes up", as it were, but I'm in about the same position of thought as the first article. Until either the ink touches parchment or his shadow darkens HFH before December, I'm still up in the air about his leaving.

I agree. I'll believe when I see it. But it does make for interesting speculation.

The comments by fans in this TSN article are pretty enlightening

I love the guy who said he was playing for an apartment and a car, like RPI is the USC football program or something. :D

Sorry to hear about this signing RPI fans, but after that World Juniors performance, he had star potential written on his forehead.

I have read all the sources and even the comments and several things come to mind. First of all most people think finishing or coming close to finishing school is a good idea. Let's be realistic here unless he makes the NHL he will be earning possibly the same amount of money through scholarship as an AHL contract minus the agent fee. I just don't understand agents and parents-most kids do not go back to school after they leave and why give up an amazing opportunity to do both. Secondly I hope this entire situation is settled asap. This cannot be great for the team-especially if they are training and he is missing in action-to return could and would be unsettling for all involved. This situation although I am sure is normal in proceedings seems a bit strange to say the least. Something seems off with this entire process. I wish Jerry the best but am now more interested in making sure that what is best for the RPI crew remaining is handled in the best way possible. If it is true that he insists on playing in the NHL before proceeding he should have thought through the reality of the situation-there is no guarentee he can make the team until he earns it and then continues to earn it each and every night. It doesn't do either party any favors to think otherwise. This will be very interesting to watch as it unfolds through the years but I for one am ready to get back to concentrating on the season ahead for the players who are training and want to be playing for RPI.

Reminds me of the movie "Blue Chips"... no wonder another poster went on that tirade a couple of months back about who should be playing college hockey.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

Sadly, the other side of the argument is that Harry Zolnierczyk or someone else of that ilk could end the chance of JD'A ever getting paid for playing hockey if he doesn't take the money when he has the chance. JD'A was already a frequent target last season.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

Two six point games.... I don't think we ever scored 6 goals in a game this past year. Unless they're counting goals/assists like soccer. Is this just a typo? Am I missing something?

That surprised me also.
