Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

I went back and looked at the roster listings and I think maybe I saw a player w 16 (Pirri's #) on the helmet. I'm not sure. No one had #'s on their jersey's. Brandon got a lot bigger per press accounts so maybe I was wrong. I could tell who Bailen was because he was the smallest guy on D and had a wicked shot from point. I didn't pick up Bruts till the very end of practice so again maybe BP was there. Want to clarify because I know that Ed W. looks at the board. Don't want to cause s***storm. I agree with the lovely Babo, SA wouldn't be upfront to the Ragord. Maybe a family matter came up, who knows. I believe Seth. I didn't talk to anyone because well I didn't want to bother them. I really enjoyed the practice, they played three 15 minute periods with non-stop clock. Sorry for adding to the speculation, I wish they would go to the half shields;)

So are you telling us that the Rookie of the Year is a phony? Return your crown, Mister... as the runner up, I accept the responsibilities with no reservations and will fulfill the activities to the best of my abilities (insert here: backward Queen of England hand wave...need an icon for that!!!):p

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

I like the idea that the NHL is experimenting IN A TEST TUBE. If they put some of their ideas into NHL games without testing them I would take exception. I like the puck drop; it's part of the way I perceive the original game...leaving the puck on the ice does seem like Lacrosse. I like both sports and don't really want them to morph toward each other...but I tip my hat to the creativity that the NHL is showing. I give full credit for that to Gary Bettman, who receives raspberries every step of the way. Ironic how he has brought hockey into the mainstream more than anyone else in the sport (other than Gretsky) and is lambasted at every turn. If I was going to market an industry, I'd put my $ on Mr. Bettman
I agree with you on the puck drop. I thought a better improvement was having two lines at the dots and instead of throwing out a center that violated the rules making him move back a foot from the dot. That was good. Did not like the 3 face-off circle idea at all. It looked like a huge curling surface instead of a hockey rink out there. I thought the long change in OT, 3 on 3 OT and hybrid icing all looked like good ideas too.

Heck, if they want to do something really different...go for Ringette (you ever wonder what the slot is for?):

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful

Plan on watching the NHL RDO again tonight. Very interested to see what else the NHL is testing. But like a number of folks have said here already, it is great that they are testing things out before just throwing them at us.

I wonder if they're going to consider testing intentionally shooting the puck into the sta- er PK icing.

Honestly, I don't know why they keep coming out with rule changes. Is there really something wrong with the game as is? Is it just a natural part of the evolution of man becoming faster and stronger?

In any case, hopefully there's a little bit of footage of Koudys in action. I'm sure those of us with NHL-N would love to see him skate.

I have NHL and wonder if there is a way to 'share' the show with friends :) . Will my dvr (from the cable co.) allow me to do that? C'mon all you engineering guys...:D

You know, I really do agree that if it ain't broke, don't fix it...over-tinkering with the game can become tedious...but I also believe it keeps interest levels up. Driving through the Chicago area this week was a HUGE billboard asking, "Miss Hockey?"
Couldn't get a photo because I was driving...:( (but probably wouldn't want one because it was a Blackhawk billboard...)

There is probably a way to do it on UStream... you'd need some sort of video capture card on your computer. From there, some software to capture the signal and translate it to a form UStream can understand.

Did anyone else notice that Dr. Baer has failed to acknowledge my Rookie of the Year award?

Today is 20 August 2010. There are 49 days (7 weeks) until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

Watched the RDO last night...I will flip big time if they actually use a ref on a podium outside the rink...total gimmick feel to it. The other rules they mentioned would take some getting used to if they did implement them.
