Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!

I have saw a few players before at the Knotty Pine after games...most times I usually go before games and share a few pitchers of beers with my friends. Turning 21 during the end of the Fridgen Era was not a good thing as I went to many a games with quite the buzz going.

Some of us managed to get our buzz on AT the game. That's why God invented Nalgene bottles.

Amen to that! Before 9/11 and the careful searches of every bag brought into HFH, Jenny and I used to always bring our refreshments with us. Section 6 Row K was always a happy place;)

I'd say that everyone on that side of the building these days could use some liquor. Or an enema. Or both.

C'mon RC...please don't tell me you're against g-strings and thongs...I will forever stop worshiping you if you are! (OK everyone...don't get all offended...it's a joke directed toward RC's use of the language!)GAAAAWWWWD! I hate having to explain s**t! :D

You never have to explain anything, we will figure it out. ;)

We wish we had Nalgene bottles. We usually had a few in the Clubhouse (RSE house) and then walk to the HFH with a few provisions. But the best time was when we smuggled a keg in. It had a ticket and overcoat. This would have been about '77 or so. Good times.

One of my friends had told me that in the early 80's the entire week was taken off. Obviously this is here-say, I wasn't born yet, therefore I do not know for sure.

Well, back in the late 70s, we definitely had classes, no days off. But AFAIK, tests were not allowed. And the strippers were always rumored to be appearing, but I don't think that they ever did. At least not when I was there.

Is it too soon to try and figure out where our beloved Engineers will be ranked in the preseason ECAC Coaches poll? You know they all secretly dislike SA because he refuses to play their trap style so they will put him 6th maybe 7th. I think they are top three myself. Can win it if Yorkie comes up big. Plus I'm trying to come up with topic not associated with alcohol and strippers.

Holy cow - that's incredible. Could've just said it was the Dartmouth mascot too. Keggy lives.

A ticket, an overcoat and a very bad haircut... wasn't he the goalie for RSE's C league team? (In the day, RSE had a truly legendary practice rink in their yard... fat lot of good it did them... our Poly/APO wiped 'em, as I seem to recall...:D )

Ralph, no offense, but please, never ever, ever, talk about g-strings or thongs ever again.

OK.

Oh no, I'm a big fan of the skimpy underwear. It wasn't that. :p

So what was the problem? Was it just that I was going further off topic?

Today is 29 July 2010. There are 71 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

Yale doesn't play the trap style, and they were ranked pretty high last year. Granted there may be "another reason" for this. ;) FWIW (which isn't very much at all), some of the posters in the preseason poll thread are putting us in top 16 with Yale as the only 2 ECAC teams in that list.

Here's to hoping Albany was the curse, and we can make the championship weekend.

RSE was still building a rink in their yard every winter when I was a student - that is, after they came back from their three-year suspension for having strippers playing volleyball at a rush event in the late 1990s. Times change, I guess.

They also had a rink as far back as when I was a student if not further.

Well, if we're going to swerve off topic, I'd much prefer it be about lingerie, rather than RHamilton's musings on bits, bytes and bandwidth..... :D

(Just kidding RHam -- I love your work !)

Again, with the broadbrush condemnation of the townie side. Love it. Not.

Any folks here worried/concerned/stressed out about the number of recruits (or lack thereof) we have committed for '11 (two, maybe three) and '12 (none known)?

I'm honestly not trying to be alarmist, but I do think that Seth, Vines and Graham will have their work cut out for them in replacing Monty's work and connections on the recruiting trail...especially in the northeast.

Well, change our minds, then. A man could sleep through the whole game over there and never be bothered. Fix it.
