Saw that...$900K if he makes the big team, $67K if he plays in Rockford... No info on the real story -- the payola, i.e. his signing bonus. :p

If I understand the CBA correctly, the signing bonus is paid regardless of whether he plays 'up' in the show or 'down' in major junior (I don't mean he will play MJ, just an example). Under the CBA last year (it may have changed), he would receive 10%, or $90k as a signing bonus for each year he is under the rookie cap. The rest of his compensation is paid as agreed upon for the league in which he plays. He would have to play 10 games in the NHL to qualify for the upper end salary, and that would be paid on a game by game basis.

I had my first beer in the long-gone Armory Bar while still under the 18-year-old drinking age of NY. Considering how many RPI freshmen were under 18 at the time, it is quite surprising that that place wasn't shut down long before it closed.

Come to think of it, I don't remember them checking ID's during Grand Marshall week either when the campus political parties gave out free beer.

Ralph, as the outgoing Rules and Elections Chair, I feel I am honor bound to correct you... it's Grand Marshal Week :).

Yes, but there's a low side, only one day off from classes now.

Oops. :o That's quite far back in memory.

I am pretty sure that is one day more than we got off. :)

One of my friends had told me that in the early 80's the entire week was taken off. Obviously this is here-say, I wasn't born yet, therefore I do not know for sure.

In the 60's we got no days off at all. You were expected to be in every class-although you were allowed to be a little late to each class and professors were expected to lighten the work load for the week. Plus we did have strippers up at the Field House in the evenings!

Oh how times have changed...

But I think one of the reasons they take the Wednesday off is to even out the schedule so every day is weighed evenly; no one day occurs more often than another in a semester.

Honestly I don't think most of the guys posting can have any idea what the campus life was like back in the 60's. It was a world of difference from what it is like now. I found it a wonderful experience and truthfully was sorry to see some of the changes. Life goes on and things change, some for the better but some I think not so.;)

But most of the strippers were not particularly good looking. Also, they didn't strip by today's standard, stopping at g-string or thong and pasties.

That all stopped about 1968 when I graduated due to the student body reaching about 5% female.

You're right that the course load was lightened and few tests were given.

I don't know about you but I've had a dean's excuse for the whole week (and this past gm week , the whole month more or less). Yeah the not going to class for a month didn't help my GPA too much. The things you do for the Union... :D

Thank God Father Joe is not on the board today.

Ralph, no offense, but please, never ever, ever, talk about g-strings or thongs ever again.

Oh come now, I'm sure there's someone that would have helped you out... The way I figured things while I was in college, if I wasn't going to frequently excess, I would make sure the close friends I had (and still have) who did would still receive halfway decent marks. I realize these are two different barrels, but it's still the same concept.

Third source told me that Brandon is staying. Triple confirm. Yesterday, I said I would buy a beer for everyone on the board if I was wrong. After Dr. Baer's last post, I guess I'll have to go to the DC area and bring him to a juice bar :p if I am wrong.

Sure, I had support. I'm not saying I failed... far from it. Did okay, would've even made dean's list if it weren't for that pesky C- in Circuits. Final Replaced my test 3 grade... Final had average of a 44, test 3? In the mid to high 80s...
