Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!

Thanks Ralph for supplementing my memory and my scorecard. I recall we played RIT twice in the 80's and lost once (perhaps in 1987??) but I don't recall any episode like the one questioned about. The 8-0 game of 1992 was pretty much like the score indicated. The ref that night was my all time favorite to hate-Mike Noeth and as usual he lost control of the game quickly.

I am in awe of Dr. Baer sometimes.

You shouldn't be about that. I have subscribed to Hockey-L since about that time. With the starting of USCHO the number of posts has diminished greatly, but it is easy to search the archives.

For some reason I prefer the bar that Shirley built to the Pine. They get more channels I suppose.

True enough --Doc and Babo may be forced there thanks to their refined taste in spirits...:p But you'll never see any players walk in after the game. :p

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!

I saw every RPI game in the 90's played at home and only recall the 1992 game (January I think) which RPI won 8-0 and my scorecard does not show any major incident like you mentioned. If anyone has other information please correct me.:)

AWW...c'mon Doc make something up ! :D I'll defer to others with a better long term memory than mine, I seem to think we'd still be holding a grudge against RIT, had there been such an egregious act attempted at HFH...

For you alum followers, Brian Pothier has signed a contract with Geneva-Servette in the Swiss Pro League. This is the same league that Matt Murley played in briefly last season.

Here's a link to the announcement on the team's site. If you know Swiss, you'll be better off. :D

Having attempted to decipher a few Russian language websites when Murley was in the KHL, I'll take your word for it...my eyes are still sore. :p

We saw Kevin Anderson and Coach Vines at the Recovery Room, as well as about half the women's hockey team, during the WJC last year. So it's not completely out of the question.

It looks like there won't be any RPI hockey players in the NHL next year. Hopefully Toronto and Chicago will keep it that way. :D

Speaking of Chicago... Nick Leddy is leaving UMTC to join them. The speculation train rolls on.

They're too expensive... but do they have Leinenkugel's? I can't remember.

It's only French. Easy enough.

I'm sure babo would find it easier if it were in Switzerland's other primary widely-spoken language.

WaP's final non-conference opponent of the summer - Know Your Enemy: Boston University.

Nice article RC. I go back to the pre Hockey east split and I for one am very glad that Buddy Powers was able to get BU back on the RPI OOC schedule. When he left for BG I feared the series would fade but it has stayed very strong.

If you are ever talking to the staff would you ask them if they ever try to get BC on the schedule? Going on memory { excluding other teams tourneys} I think it has been around 15 years since they were on the OOC schedule. I have heard various reasons from past coaching staffs and wondered if SA has tried to get them.

I am in Maine on business and I hateit when you guys talk about sooo much and then I have to try and catch up...:p

I have a preference for the Knotty Pine but am happy to go to the other place you mentioned...my palate is indiscriminate as to who pours the drink...as long as it's poured;)

Memory is starting to fail a bit after all these years. Remember, I have about 48 years of RPI hockey to recall. Thankfully I saved lots of the scorecards and old media guides. If i make any mistakes though, I can count on RB to correct me quickly.:D

The Knotty Pine has so much history going for it-Back in the 60's it was either there or the Armory Bar (which hasn't existed in ages). Cannot recall how often I staggered home from those 2 places in the old days. Back then though the drinking age was 18 so we got an earlier start.:)
