RB:
Halfway thru this thread ...too early to start entertaining thread title ideas? :-)

I have been waiting until post 900, but good suggestions are always welcome. :)

There is a team picture of Power Edge Hockey up on the Chowder Cup website http://www.proamhockey.com/. BRO is easy to identify. I won't guess which one Quinn is (although his father is also easy to ID. :) )

Congratulations to Nick Quinn on his award, and to the team.
BRO certainly fits his nick name. :D

A second on the Nick Quinn award. I didn't see the games, but considering he was only third in defenseman scoring on his own team, he must have done something right. :) (He did have both have his goals during the playoffs.)

I'll leave it for Babo to confirm - as she's seen Nick both in DBQ and in the CC but is in Quinn is in the backrow and I beleive he's fourth from the right (the third kid over from the B.R.O.)

Interesting video on Quinn Sr.'s Power Edge website shows some of the basics of what he's trying to teach in what he calls the "short game" -- quickness, agility and stick handling in tight spaces. Nick Quinn demonstrates most of the drills his father is explaining...this kid is gonna be fun to watch in Cherry & White !:D I for one hope Seth invites Mr. Quinn in to perform a few clinics...

That's him. Comparing it with the picture on the right of him getting his all-star team award, it is clear.

I didn't scroll to the right when I first looked...I was going to ask what award you were talking about ...:p

Yes, that and I have a few too many windows open....:p

That's the beauty of virtual desktops! ;)

I didn't know other coaches were allowed to come in and give clinics... is the process similar to that of a volunteer assistant coach? The number of NCAA rules is even confusing me.

Big brother i.e. the NCAA is always a concern. I'll stand corrected, so long as he were unpaid - i.e. "volunteer" I think it's hunky dory.

I wonder if there is a limit, however, on only one volunteer coach. I don't recall a team having more. Then again, he could always be called something else, like a trainer.

Does a special assistant coach who stands behind the bench during one game count towards volunteer assistant coach? We had one of those during the CCT game last year.

I take it back, I think 3 ACs is the limit. As RB mentioned, I do think many teams may have skating coaches titled as trainers or fitness-type folks so as to stay in the good graces of the NCAA. It is certainly possible that the NCAA has restricted things to the point that players might have to seek out skating coaches on their own time and nickel.

As has been mentioned here in the past, Paul Vincent (Blackhawks skating coach) worked with RPI's '85 national champions, as was Troy's own Dave Randall for a time...some kids named Murley and Cavosie were disciples of his in their younger years :p :p

The Clarkson game was the '85 NC celebration..I believe Big Mike was behind the bench for the beginning of the festivities and puck drop...I think this is what Dude is referring to.

There were more than 3 back in 1985, but I think that the rules have changed.
