Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!

It's perfectly legitimate for NHL scouts to scout whomever they want to. I would think, based upon this and the other links that have been posted, that the Caps will keep an eye on him.

Here's to hoping that Cullen plays well in the upcoming season, and that he only suffered from sophomore jinx last year. Let's face it, if we get a couple of forwards to significantly improve in the upcoming season, we could have three liens that could score, and that is rare in the ECAC these days.

Liens? aren't you a mathematician and not a lawyer??

As far as Cullen-he always did seem to have more talent than he has shown so far in Troy. He could be another big part of the puzzle this coming year. I can feel the excitement growing-Let's get ready to rumble!!!

That's OK-one spelling error every 110,000 posts is OK;)

On Friday, Power Edge Hockey defeated North Atlantic Renegades (CO) 9-1. Luke Curadi scored 2 goals. Nick Quinn had no points or penalties. http://stats.proamhockey.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1903

Curadi's line is 2-3-1-4-0.
Quinn's line is 2-0-1-1-0.

I wonder if babo did the swim. :)

Students get charged for playoff football games? (That wasn't an issue when I was at RPI. :D )

Ya, the NCAA makes them charge for the playoffs. When it was at '86, they would block off every conceivable entry point by setting up ticket booths all around. Luckily, the NCAA didn't know about the underground tunnel from the DCC to JEC.

I got to ask how an underground tunnel between two buildings would allow one to get past the ticket booths at the '86 Field.

Go in DCC. Or go in CII and use various accesses to get to DCC. Go to first floor (WRPI base). Take tunnel to JEC. Go up 2 floors. Watch from window. Eureka!
Or, if you're ECSE, go to Flip Flop Lounge on 6th floor. Eureka!

I thought the B.R.O. is a defenseman... that looks more like a forward's line. Not that I'm complaining, of course....

Ralph, you are right the countdown doess keep DU on the front page during the off season. And helps Dmann get over the lingering depression from last year's meltdown. :)

The bad news--this off season has been pretty quiet on the DU thread. The good news--expectations are not nearly as high

Two goals, no penalty minutes? Are you sure we got the right guy? ;)

I don't think I saw this posted here...video of Pirri burying a penalty shot at Hawks camp.

http://blackhawks.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=-6&id=73844&cmpid=rss-whatsnew

Am I mistaken or is this some sort of hybrid: it plays like a penalty shot until after the score, where there are players from the opposing team seem to have followed him in for a possible rebound? No real penalty shots has guys on the ice like that...please refer back everyone and tell me I'm not crazy.

On a separate note... the Chowder Cup is taking place at about 6 different venues. With construction and normal summer traffic to the Cape, we have been sitting in the car most of the time. Power Edge won their first two: 12-0, and 9-1. The refs had to ask the B.R.O. and his 6'7" buddy JD to lay off the hitting so no one would get hurt...it started to look like bowling for dollars after a while  The team comprises about 15 guys who've never played together before and there's been quick chemistry building. Haven't seen any of the players RB has mentioned as of yet but we'll try to get to a few other games after we get the AC in our room attended to...they have no more rooms and we spent last night baking in our hermetically sealed 'oven', with just the bathroom fan as our comfort.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!

Sorry RB...I hadn't read all the posts before putting my blurb in there about the Chowder Cup...didn't mean to be redundant...this is the first time the B.R.O. gets to be one of the older guys on the ice and it's been pretty funny.

I can't do the swim 'cause the rinks are too cold for me to move...FD08 will have to come up with a swim facsimile for us...

You're not crazy, the opposing team did follow him in. However, at least from when I saw a penalty shot taken during a couple RPI games (non-shootout), and I could be wrong about this as it has been over a year since it happened, there was no rebound after the shot, and if the goalie blocked the shot or the puck missed the net, a faceoff would proceed in the zone.

On a side note, I do know soccer allows for rebounds after a penalty.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26308 Confirmed rule, at least in the NHL, for penalty shots.

No problem at all. Besides for the scores, you didn't duplicate anything that I posted.

So, the rooms are too hot and the rinks are too cold. :D
