Today is 29 April 2010. There are 162 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

A quick re-check of the Rensselaer Directories shows no new names other than Mr. Tinordi. I don't know how often this is updated.

It beats me, but I know that I typically check twice a day during the week. :) If you check, could also look for Melissa (Missy) Mankey and Logonaimanufaalava (Nona) Letuligasenoa. The other three known women's recruits are listed. I have been looking for "letul*" for the latter since conceivably it will be misspelled. :D

I'm still looking forward to hearing one of the WRPI broadcasters say that name. Either that, or the PA announcers at Colgate/Cornell.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

I am surprised that you considered Cutts if you want only a few additions. He was a good goalie and our first NHL player, but I think that he is down the list. I wouldn't mind continuing at the rate of one per year.

As you said, Cutts was first NHL player from RPI. He also made about a million saves while in college. He may not be as good as Puppa or Little, but he deserves some consideration. One a year might be too many. What are the criteria? Is is truly a way to honor the most elite players and coaches, or simply a way to boost attendance at one game each year?

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

I would put my support to adding Bill Cahill to the RofH. Bill was one of the kindest people I've had the privilege of knowing and he left an indelible mark on both the men's and women's programs.

Brilliant!!!!
We all missed that one. Though numbers - wins, years coaching, etc. - may not be there, his impact on both programs and on everyone he ever encountered, can not be denied. I like that choice for all the right reasons.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

EHF: You know I am as big a Brad Tapper fan as there is-but he had one truly fantastic year and two good years-and as you point out he did leave after his third year. Thanks for mentioning him-he does at least deserve that. I still feel anyone being considered for RofH should be in the top few measured by career statistics while at RPI. Or be a really great coach who changed the direction of the program.;)

Agreed.

Well, technically I didn't. :)

Gesundheit!!

Thanks. Tough day at work -- the internet connection was down since about 7 AM and there was no water in the bathroom. Supposedly, the events were not connected, but I suspect Al Qaeda -- or Clarkson. ;)

Actually the bathroom problem was solved by going down another hall. The intenet -- supposedly Verizon cut a BIG fiber optic cable.

Lately Jenny and I seem to be having days like that also-there has to be some connection.:)

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

Ralph, way to kick start the thread with the ROH talk. The fact that so many of the institutes players have passed without proper recognition sure shows how badly the ball was dropped for many many years.I feel the school should induct several a year to try and get caught up. Perhaps one post-humously,one living from a long time ago and one from the modern era.

Any rumors floating aroung regarding possible candidates for the AC position?

How about an official recruit announcement. A few people have mentioned that perhaps RPI is still looking for a 2010 d man. If that is the case it makes our apparent absence from the Juha courtship rather odd.

WaP glances at the recruiting situation.

Planning to update WaP at least once a week throughout the offseason.

Great breakdown. I don't think Laliberte is heading to Iowa because one of the reasons I heard he is vacillating on leaving home is because he is afraid of language barrier. Iowa would probably seem a million miles away to him. Of course Troy won't be any better. Our idea of speaking French in Troy is ordering fries from McDonalds. Looking forward to the weekly updates on WaP.

Well, it looks like posting here has been dying down recently. Does anyone have any thoughts as to who (if anyone) will be inducted into the Ring of Honor?

I have a feeling that the next honoree will be someone relatively recent compared to the last three. My first thought is Daren Puppa. There is the question of whether the fact that he did not graduate from RPI will be held against him. I don't know if there is a rule that players must have graduated. There is for the HOF, but the ROH may not have any formal rules. Other possiiblities from that era are hammond and Carter. More recent possibilities are Neil Little and Joel Laing, and even Brian Pothier.

Ralph, I can really get this party started. One word - Adessa

I agree with your general point, but don't think Troy would be as bad as you make it out to be. Playing junior hockey in Iowa is a lot different than playing for RPI; at RPI you have classes all day to distract you, are surrounded by hundreds of people in the roughly the same new situation as you. In Iowa, he'd have 17 guys on his hockey team he could somewhat relate to, but the lifestyle is completely different. You wake up and have nothing to do all day, no friends outside of hockey, etc.

I haven't heard any rumors about the new AC? (Or two if Kevin Broad is also leaving.)

As to Juha, he was born in 1993. He probably has a year of HS left.

That'd be a good way to get people fired up for the right and wrong reasons. Considering how well received he was at 1985 weekend this past year it'd seem like a no-brainer. We all know that that's not how such an announcement would go down though.

I like it but with huge bad-PR related reservations.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

There is a recent article about Dubuque in USHR. Can someone who subscribes report on if it mentions who will be the second RPI recruit there?
