Servinis didn't graduate, so that might eliminate him. (Also, he was offsides. ;) )
Wonder if everyone else has these rules. Next time I'm at the Agannis Arena I'll take a close look at their hall of fame.

UGH....ok, any suggestions as to who to contact to remedy this; SA, Knowlton, Beatie, Anderson???????

I would agree that John Carter would be a great choice. Darren Puppa would be also but I have to wonder that the fact that he only played 2 years with the team would have any bearing on the voting ?

Well, it looks like posting here has been dying down recently. Does anyone have any thoughts as to who (if anyone) will be inducted into the Ring of Honor?

I have a feeling that the next honoree will be someone relatively recent compared to the last three. My first thought is Daren Puppa. There is the question of whether the fact that he did not graduate from RPI will be held against him. I don't know if there is a rule that players must have graduated. There is for the HOF, but the ROH may not have any formal rules. Other possiiblities from that era are hammond and Carter. More recent possibilities are Neil Little and Joel Laing, and even Brian Pothier.

I would hope that somebody has a clear idea of the criteria for selecting people to the Ring of Honor. In my opinion, there should be very few additions. It should remain elite. Hammond, Carter, Cutts, Little and Pothier an a few of the others mentioned are good ones to consider, but I would hope that not more than 2 or 3 of them are chosen soa s not to water it down.

Puppa only played two years, so that is likely to keep him off the list - IMO.
I don't know if non-graduates are automatically eliminated from consideration, but it would be interesting to know.

I am surprised that you considered Cutts if you want only a few additions. He was a good goalie and our first NHL player, but I think that he is down the list. I wouldn't mind continuing at the rate of one per year.

Hammond. Longevity in his NHL career. Intergal part of 85 team. Married someone from Troy :)

Not sure any of the people mentioned belong in the RofH so quickly. I would like to keep it special and separate from any other honors like the Hall of Fame. Not sure if NHL experience should enter into this at all-perhaps the RofH should be reserved for contributions while at RPI only.

My list:

1. Abbie Moore
2. Nathan Marsters
3. Joel Laing

Laing would be my leader of those 3-followed by Moore. Not sure about Marsters just yet-would like not to just see it done as a sympathy vote. There should be a decent waiting period to allow for the test of time.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

I am guessing that no one has mentioned Brad Tapper because he left early?
If we are to go by what players did while on the ice for the Engineers, he must be considered.

I would put my support to adding Bill Cahill to the RofH. Bill was one of the kindest people I've had the privilege of knowing and he left an indelible mark on both the men's and women's programs.

EHF: You know I am as big a Brad Tapper fan as there is-but he had one truly fantastic year and two good years-and as you point out he did leave after his third year. Thanks for mentioning him-he does at least deserve that. I still feel anyone being considered for RofH should be in the top few measured by career statistics while at RPI. Or be a really great coach who changed the direction of the program.;)

What a great, great thought DF...Bill was a class act all the way --- its no wonder he did said a great job recruiting. He always made time for folks who wanted to say hello. As you said, his contributions to both the men's and women's teams makes him my top pick.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

is graduation, don't know if he did or didn't, the reason Murley is not listed with former Engineers who have played in the NHL?......in the display in HFH

That display has long been a source of frustration for me...as it was never up to date, or even accurate as you pointed out. I hope it ends up in the bottom of the roll-off during renovations. I have a strong feeling that Seth has plans for a new display.
