Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

I'm not sure if we start up a women's off-season thread, but the women's recruits are officially listed:

Losing streak, Dude. Losing streak.

You're literally two clicks away from ceasing to be "not sure" about the women's off-season thread.

Who's Al Shively? Is he going to take Al Shibley's job?

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

I have faith in Al Shively to give the French pronunciation. Of course, he has to get here first, and who knows if he'll be ready in 11-12. But I digress.

I'm assuming they're not doing all of the field house renovations over this summer, what do they plan to do? Is it on the RPI website?

But Shively won't have to deal with saying Logonaimanufaalava Letuligasenoa. :)

Edit: I knew that Shively didn't sound right. :o

I think maybe I've seen the name in print once, if even that. Oh well, no excuse, just an attempt to spell it correctly in the future.

I gotta stop posting at 7AM.

OK, that'll do.

O Captain my Captain!

Rec'd the golf outing invite in the mail today. Seth's letter mentions that " the Houston Field House renovation is within months of completion." This is a good thing. :D
So WA...does your moniker depict your hockey shot or your golf swing? :D

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

“UMass was the first school that came after me,” Curadi said. “I went on my visit and they did a great job of showing the love. I committed, and then I realized – nothing against UMass – I realized I could have kept my options open.”

A cautionary tale for recruits across the board - if you've got time on your side, let things develop a little before pulling the trigger.

That said, I don't blame him (or Higgs) for making the choice to reneg. I saw what happened with Bobby Goepfert when he realized too late that Providence was not the right fit for him after he jumped at the first offer he got. It almost completely ruined his college career.

Bucky Gleason was right about one thing - Dave Smith is doing a hell of a job at Canisius. He's got that program oriented in the right direction and recruiting is a big part of that. Toot Cahoon's no slouch either. It doesn't take much end up a perennial also-ran in Hockey East (just ask Merrimack and Providence), but Cahoon has UMass right in the thick of things every year. So it's not terribly surprising to me that Higgs and Curadi were quickly sold on the first schools to make an offer. (Incidentally, we've got a guy on that level too.)

No excitement for the captain?

Honestly, I don't really see any kind of guarantee that JFK will be the captain this coming up year. He may be it, you never know. Either him or Brutlag (as he was an alternate last year).

OK. I'll take your word for it.

Any speculation on the A's? I would think Brutlag would be a given since he was in the position last year. Maybe a good motivator out there like Joel Malchuk, or even passing through the bloodline and Alex Angers-Goulet might see it?

You just got told by rvd5star69. You should contemplate and reflect on that before your next post.

There's no sense in guessing. None of us sees what happens behind the bench, in practice, or in the locker room. That is where captains are born and bred.

At an engineering school? Who woulda thunk? ;)

It may be imagination, but the percentage of non-management majors on the hockey team seems to have increased under SA.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

Likely won't see anything happening up at HFH until after graduation is over. They're not going to want contractors staging in the lots up there until after they're done with their tents and everything else this coming weekend.

I guess I'm surprised they didn't start work right after the season ended...but with close proximity to the athletic fields next door, I imagine that played into timing things as well. So long as they have it done before the first home game. :p
