Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

I may very well end up buying a new RPI jersey and put Dangles on the back of it...Too bad when I start yelling great play Jarmu most of the people around me will shoot me crazy looks.

They'll get it after a while, especially if the student sections start chanting it as well.

Or RPI TV =(

We may miss the 21st and 22nd as well depending on where Winter Break falls...

Looking ahead at the Events calendar on RPInfo, looks like the first day of classes for Spring 2011 is going to be January 24th. Those games will be the weekend most students will be returning to campus.

I wonder why classes are starting up so late... was Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Day moved back a week to the 24th? Will it be on the 17th? I always thought classes started back up the day after MLK day.

Shirley added an extra week to the winter break, to take effect during the 09-10 school year, so that students can take advantage of short-term study abroad opportunities (make her more money). That makes the spring term start a week after MLK day.

This past season's Harvard, Dartmouth series also landed on the last weekend of break and attendance was horrendous. I don't expect much better this season.

It does help, thanks. But you would think that the NCAA would have a consistent designation criteria for all sports; in other words, aren't hockey divisions defined differently from football; football from baseball...etc?

NCAA + Consistent = Does not compute :p

Or I could show up and be the official "puttz" of the team. I don't trust my shoulder enough to do anything more than putt. :o

I say you should go...playing hurt wiil inspire the team ! Besides, it'll probably be a best ball event, so you could be your team's designated putter...and keep everyone loose on the fairways. :D

WHY IS THIS THREAD FILLING UP FASTER THAN AN IN-SEASON THREAD

No, Ralph, it's not because we combined the recruiting thread. I know that was coming.

Actually, to add to this, in the 2006-07 school year (or was it 2007-08?), ResLife changed move-back-in day from Wednesday to Friday. I'm guessing it was part of a cost-saving effort to not pay RA's and RD's as much, and partially based upon the demand of when students returned.

We also have to consider where people are coming from. In my senior year of college, we fielded a small band for the women's Union weekend, and that was in the middle of winter break! Granted at the time, a number of us were living locally or semi-locally, and the distribution was good enough to put together a skeleton set. We're now seeing less and less locals/semi-locals attending RPI so people have to fly out (no guarantees on timing), and most of them are probably encouraged to go back the day before, whether they're homesick, or whatever.

I may have the surgeon for you-but no luck on the therapists. If the shoulder is just an impingement of the rotator cuff you should be good to go in 4 weeks. If it is a true tear, then you are looking at 3 months or more to recover. Shoulders are tricky-lots of sports careers have ended because of unsuccessful surgery on them.

When I last had an MRI done on it a few years ago, I found out the muscles are a mess, the tendons are as well and the socket joint has a nice little groove carved out from how many times it has slipped out up to that point. It's come out a few more times since then.

U can come to the dinner after the golf portion for thirty bucks. Instead of the beer cart girl we can talk to the bartender and add more adult beverages.

I say you should go...playing hurt wiil inspire the team ! Besides, it'll probably be a best ball event, so you could be your team's designated putter...and keep everyone loose on the fairways. :D

Aspy: But the beer cart girls are generally always more fun to look at and you'd stand a better shot with them than a bartender. :D

The guy that sometimes does radio and writes on the Internet playing hurt should only inspire everyone else to both laugh at my expense and drink even more.

From recent posts it appears Monty is building his team from the blueline forward

Based upon our recruits, or his USHL draft selections?

In the past few years, RPI has had very defensive-minded coaching. The blue line is your foundation, and supports your main scorers. This isn't much of a shocker at all, seeing from whom Monty learned.

When Monty was hired by Dubuque, he stated in an early article that he intended to build from the D outward.

In the USHL Draft today, Dubuque picked up a Dman named Luuko, who played with Gunnery this year...I misspoke in saying they won the prep championship,,,that was Avon

So when do we put together a please stay video for D'Amigo and Pirri? :D Gotta love the people of Cleveland that mistake by the lake.

I don't think there's any good reason. They'll only be at RPI for a maximum of four years anyway. In fact, I'd be very happy to see them play in the NHL. Obviously I care about our team, but college is one of those stepping stones to the pro's. If this were a pro league, it might be warranted, but it's not, so no.
