Just got the email for Men's Golf Hockey Tourney. August 9th at Shaker Ridge. I am informing the beer cart girl that GLM and RC might be there so they should stock up on more adult beverages :)

I'm already in. GLM is going to need a cortisone shot or five.

I was hopeful this was the case back when the Institute first came out with the blueprints for the new ECAV and im still optimistic that it will eventually happen someday. I always thought the Patriot League would be a nice home for all the other sports teams at RPI if they decided to make the jump up.

Not a crazy idea...especially given the huge strides UAlbany and Siena have made in D1 lax in a very short period of time. Just a few years ago Siena's lacrosse program was horrible...and I don't mean bad...I mean painful to watch HORRIBLE.

... I am starting to think that the stars are beginning to align and we will be at RPI to watch sports much more than originally intended. ...:D

Are you trying to tell us that Coach Townsend wants the B.R.O to play lax at RPI? :p

babo, you can rest assured that you have never come anywhere near a facepalm, not even once. :) I've often posited that the Institute should consider going to Division I in all sports, with an emphasis on football in the fall, hockey in the winter, and lacrosse in the spring.

cornball you should self facepalm that will never happen

He wouldn't be allowed to because he will have an athletic scholarship and RPI is a D3 school. Even if RPI is considering switching to DI, isn't there a moratorium currently?

Details, details...:p He could appear as Nuke Muradi on the lax roster... :D I can dream anyway. :p

Montgomery discusses his seven tender offers including Curadi and Quinn http://www.thonline.com/multimedia/?id=3175. He states that Quinn was his first import. That means that Ryan doesn't count, and JL could still go there. Let's watch if he is picked in Wednesday's draft.

That would REALLY surprise me, pleasantly of course. If Monty could get his hands on that kid, he would be a different kid in a years time. Jim has the knack of getting kids to understand what the opportunities are that are right there at their feet. Thanks RB, now you've got my hopes up ! :p

I doubt that JL would go there, but nothing that would happen with him would truly surprise me anymore.

If Doc can get me connected with a shoulder surgeon and physical therapist that doesn't mind working for free, count me in. :)

Or I could show up and be the official "puttz" of the team. I don't trust my shoulder enough to do anything more than putt. :o

Myself and other members of the First Church will also be in attendance at the golf outing again this year. I'm hoping one from last year's foursome will be officially recuperated from his appendectomy by then.

Kid, you have no idea how close it came to actually happening. No idea.

Really?
Just wanting to be in a D1 league and actually being ininvited or accepted are two different things.
What league was football going to be in? I am curious. I don't see a fit that makes sense.

Also don't you mean facewash that is a hockey term and this is a hockey site.
Never heard of facepalm? Is that like facebook?

Today is 19 May 2010. There are 136 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 2 October for the start of next season.

As I wrote, the rumor back in 2003-4 (time does fly) was that RPI and JHU would join the Patriot League if we could not offer athletic scholarships in hockey as a D3 school. We wouldn't have stated that in public because it would be playing our hand, and the admins most likely preferred that we remain in the general D3 classiifcation. That was my opinion also.

I suspect that feelers were sent to the Patriot League as well as the Northeast 10 and probably other leagues since it certainly wasn't a sure thing that the Prop 65 vote would go our way. IMHO, the Patriot League is the best fit for RPI in either D1 or D2. I have no idea what response if any came, but I suspect that the Patriot League would at least seriously look at both JHU and RPI. A Colgate fans stated that a couple of the existing members were considering leaving (IIRC Lafayette and/or Lehigh) but that hasn't happened.

BTW, we now have a new football stadium and other facilities. I do not know if they meet D1 minima (even for D1AA in football).
