You never know how many of them may choose to get an account on this proposed forum. Ralph, do you have accounts on either The Roundtable or eLynah?

both

I still don't see any real advantage to a separate forum.

No doubt, but if we are to continue to improve, we have to find a way to play against the Union's of the world.
That's one for the coaches to ponder.
I am sure that they have been working on it all off season and will come up with the solution.

Here's a question: If we play a similar style of hockey to Yale, how were they "successful" (using the term based solely upon their #1 finishing in the regular season), whereas we were "not as successful"? (We finished 6th, but discount 4 of our points for the purposes of this argument because they were earned playing Yale.) I think that would go a long way towards answering how we are to play the Unions of the world.

I don't see any real advantage to no separate forum. This isn't a question of "advantage" really. It's a question of whether people would want to participate there.

That may be true RC but I would greatly miss the once a month or so back and forth between you and Bothman or some of your other best friends.

Why is there an assumption it would go away?

Just some more info on Quinn from a USHR article about Dubuque filling up its seven available pre-draft tenders. No mention of Luke in the article.

6'0", 190 lb. LD Nick Quinn of the Orangeville Crushers (CCHL) will play for Dubuque for a year before heading to RPI in the fall of '11. A former second-round pick (#21 overall) by Sudbury in the 2008 OHL draft, Quinn moves the puck well, is an excellent skater, and could be a key guy on the Fighting Saints' power play. A 6/12/92 birthdate, he was coached at Orangeville this year by Dale Hawerchuk. Quinn was recruited by Montgomery to RPI, so there's an established comfort level there.

Eddie Knowles, VP for Student Life, is stepping down to take a position as a professor. As many know, Dr. Knowles is a big supporter of RPI's athletic programs and especially hockey, where he can be seen at pretty much any home hockey game and sometimes on the road, too.

With the way the weather feels up here in the Capital District it sure doesnt feel like May but more like October...speaking of which has there been any official word about the game in Lake Placid yet? I wanna book a room early so I can be close to the village to consume some adult beverages before and after the game.
I looked into this last weekend because I wanted to make reservations early as well and got a return email this morning from ORDA stating that there will be hockey on Saturday October 30th at the 1980 Rink. RPI vs Union at 4pm and Clarkson vs SLU at 7pm.

I believe that the answer is poise.
They are more comfortable when forechecked.
We tend to give up the puck too easily in our own end when we are forced.
That leads to many scoring chances from ideal scoring positions.
If we can learn to take care of the puck in our own end, we will be playing in the NCAAs.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

I was at both games, and as hard it is to believe, we skated rings around them in both games.
There was never a point where I was worried in either game.

Saw both games in person. We skated circles around them for sure. It was the only two times I saw Yale play all year. After the first game at home, I went "Wow, this is a talented team, but we played really well and won". After the second, I said "Where did all their talent go?". We made a great team look less than mediocre on their home ice.

Alright, I will defer to greater minds on these matters. I just wish we had dominated the rest of the ECAC like we had dominated the Bulldogs. Like I said, I expect our offense to be very potent and I expect good things this season.

Today is 12 May 2010. There are 149 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

Woo! It's my birthday! Less than 150 days until I can walk into the HFH and watch hockey again.

Why not both? :D
Because I partied hard at the Ruck last night, and it is not being very kind to me today. And I have a presentation to give tomorrow in CPDC (which probably means nothing to non-ChemEs).

Go to Biergarten. Do it now. Bombers has jumped the shark.

You seem to have particularly strong feelings on this.

And, thank you Ralph, FD08, ehf, and GRuss.

Go to Bombers to get the birthday burrito only. Do not get the big margarita.

Get your boot at Biergarten before you do anything though.
