RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

My house up in the Adirondacks lost power for 4 hours-heavy wet snow about 2" and high winds took down a few trees that hit a couple of power lines. We were supposed to be up there this week but elected to stay in NJ. Come to think of it-we have it pretty good. Our house up there is 45 minutes from Lake Placid (when the tourney was up there) and now down in NJ we are 45 mnutes from AC for next year's tourney. Sometimes life is good!:D

Don't you also own a place down in Port Charlotte, Florida? I wonder if that indicates the next place that the ECAC tourney will be held.

Heisenberg has now added Dolan to our list. I suspect that it is purely due to my message about the Facebook entry and doesn't indicate any independent confirmation.

It's pretty solid evidence. I mean, that's HIM saying he's coming. Right from the horse's mouth.

I agree with that. I was indicating that it was unlikely that CH had found out in another manner. Similarly the changes that he introduced in his 2011 RPI listing almost certainly only came from the link to Weaver's recent article that I sent to him.

Nope-sold that house after my mom passed away 2 years ago. Bought it for her, so felt it would be best, even in a horrible real estate market to sell it once she was gone. Besides Jenny is the winter person-give her tons of snow and cold weather and a college hockey game and she is one happy camper.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

I'm preemptively agitated about people wringing their hands fretting over mistakes that Koudys and Lebeouf will make next year thinking that all kids will come in immediately and play like professionals. I know it's going to happen, I'm just laying it out now that such nonsense will have no place here.

Don't know why I'm already grumpy about this stuff. Meh, whatever.

Just a reminder, defense is played by all of the players on the ice. The incoming freshmen will make mistakes. So will all of the other players on the ice. It is what you do after you make a mistake that influences the play.
Last year, most of the mistakes that I saw, were blind passes in the defensive zone by both defensemen and forwards. That should be easily corrected.
Of course, there was the inablility of someone to tackle a Harvard forward with two seconds left that would have given us another point in the standings.
This will be a very good team. I look forward to many visits to home and away games this coming season.:)

Maybe I should wait for a lull in discussion before asking this... nah.

Clarkson and Cornell have robust message board communities away from the goofiness of this board. We've got a fairly large community here - is there any support for an RPI Hockey message board? We've been tossing around the ideas of having a message board at WaP and hosting chats with members of the media (and live chats during games). Would there be any support among posters here for something like that?

Either location would be fine with me. However, it may result in becoming an "elitist board" of sorts, where it ends up just being the regular posters here. Although I'm sure many are willing to search, we may not be able to be graced with the inputs of those with inputs from another angle (not only opposing fans, but also the parents of the players who may only be searching for college hockey in general as opposed to our team). There is, of course, the option that we could use both forums.

Really?! I'm starting to think you like RC continuously bashing you.

Personally, no opinion on the matter. I'll still look to follow RPI, RIT, and the whole state of the ECAC.

Would Ralph have to start at 0 posts on this new board or would he be granted 100k right away? :D I know I would follow both boards but I doubt the casual RPI fan looking for info would be able to unless WaP promoted the crap outta the board.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

Got a call today from a guy who scouts part-time for pros and he was in Beantown over the weekend and gave me this report on Higgs. "Above average speed, defintely D-1 material", "Not tall but strong".

ROFL @ the first comment.

We're definitely in agreement with our concerns. I think the WaP promotion so far is halfway decent, as I do see links to it on Facebook within a couple of the hockey game "events", as well as various fan groups. Not to mention, I'm sure there are plenty of subscribers on Twitter. I don't know if RPI Athletics would promote it or not (do they?), given it's a "fan blog" composed by two alumni, despite its astute attention to detail. That would likely be the cream of the crop. Until then, we may be stuck to Facebook, Twitter, getting lucky on Google, as well as Word of Mouth.

I wonder if Rogic is going to be a surprise in this class, the same scout saw Rogic when he was 15 and said he was pretty good then. The youtube video on WaP shows great foot work and speed. I wonder if he will turn into a sleeper for us. Here's wishing.

I doubt they'd ever promote WaP, but we were for a time in negotiation for being able to request official interviews with players and such. That ended after they saw our outstanding Harry Zolnierczyk photoshop and they decided they didn't want to be associated with us. Which, of course, is understandable.

No need for it in opinion. We should stay here and keep the dsicussion more open. We do benefit sometimes from fans of other teams which would be much rarer elsewhere. (Not that yours truly doesn't post on both of those boards on occasion.)

Bo knows toughness.

Smell that? Yeah... I smell a photoshop.

Whatever work you're doing, do keep it up. I appreciate getting these reports about the guys.

Well, if that were the case, we know you'll never leave here, so we can have you as our outpost manager. :p
