Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

It was far, far worse back when Swanson and Luthi were the experienced blueliners, for sure. At least now we'll have four of six guys with NCAA experience, and I suspect that in 2011 Quinn and Curadi won't be your average freshmen.

Things do seem to be looking up on defense-it just may take a year longer for everything to gel. Here's hoping our upperclass defensemen play to the best of their ability while we wait for the new boys to mature and fit in. It would help considerably if we manifest a potent offense up front that can keep the puck out of our defensive end for long stretches of time though.;)

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

It goes in cycles - the same threats were needed when Merth, Burgdoerfer et al. came in, as our defense at that point was majority freshmen and the mistakes were bound to happen. If anything we're in a better spot than we were then, when Swanson and Luthi were really the only upperclass defensemen to rely on. Now with Kennedy, Foss, and Bergin we have enough upperclass experience to cover for the freshman while they get up to speed, along with several forwards who are good in their own end of the ice as well.

Without a doubt the talent now is vastly superior to the talent then. No offense to Swanson and Luthi, they did what they had to do, but it's just different now.

I'm preemptively agitated about people wringing their hands fretting over mistakes that Koudys and Lebeouf will make next year thinking that all kids will come in immediately and play like professionals. I know it's going to happen, I'm just laying it out now that such nonsense will have no place here.

Don't know why I'm already grumpy about this stuff. Meh, whatever.

With the way the weather feels up here in the Capital District it sure doesnt feel like May but more like October...speaking of which has there been any official word about the game in Lake Placid yet? I wanna book a room early so I can be close to the village to consume some adult beverages before and after the game.

It feels like March here in DC.

I received a message from Chris Heisenberg, who is out of town and not able to modify his files, acknowledging my message about Dolan having stated on Facebook that he is going to RPI.

Dolan is a good addition, especially this late in the cycle. Another Minn. dman for Seth. Bo is a smart, scrappy kid who isn't afraid of the body...he was co-captain of Hill-Murray's '08 AA state champion team. Looking forward to seeing him develop under Vines'.

Heisenberg has now added Dolan to our list. I suspect that it is purely due to my message about the Facebook entry and doesn't indicate any independent confirmation.

My house up in the Adirondacks lost power for 4 hours-heavy wet snow about 2" and high winds took down a few trees that hit a couple of power lines. We were supposed to be up there this week but elected to stay in NJ. Come to think of it-we have it pretty good. Our house up there is 45 minutes from Lake Placid (when the tourney was up there) and now down in NJ we are 45 mnutes from AC for next year's tourney. Sometimes life is good!:D
