Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

I think it will be very valuable experience for Nick...both playing for Monty in the USHL and being away from home.

I can't think of anything bad that can come of this. Playing for a former coach along side a future defenseman recruit. They will be coming in knowing the system and ready to play together as a unit.
It will be like starting their sophomore season as freshmen.
I like it. :D

Absolutely.

At first we were only getting guys like Brutlag and Foss because we weren't requiring that they play an extra year of juniors; it is very encouraging that we're now landing high-quality recruits and getting the benefit of having them get more seasoned before suiting up for us.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

With that happening I wonder if Coach Appert has another defensemen in hiding that none of us have been able to find out about as of yet. Guess we will have to wait and see when the official announcement about this years freshman class is made.
I can definately see another Dman being recruited for next season, possibly two. If Brutlag is staying at forward that leaves six Dmen for next season (Kennedy, Foss, Bergin, Bailen, Leboeuf and Beauregard).

Yes, but the million dollar question is who? :D

Nothing bad? You aren't trying hard enough. :D Until he shows up, there is always something that could happen. Perhaps Monty gets an NCAA HC job and takes Quinn with him.

However, most likely it will be good.

It wouldn't surprise me now if Koudys shows up early. He seemed to have had a better season than either Quinn or Curadi last year.

Agreed RB, he is pretty young, but having seen him at HFH, he sure isn't small. :D

Assuming that Nolan Graham is indeed the new AC, I wonder if we have lost something on the recruiting front having him instead of Montgomery. Montgomery can impress recruits by having played on a line with Paul Kariya.

From the Directory:

Name: Patrick John Michael Koudys
Class: First-Year Student
Curriculum: Civil Engineering

That answers one question.

I don't think anyone can argue that we aren't hurt by Monty's exit. Far beyond his resume, he has an ability to get kids to believe in and commit to a program. I am sure that at least in the near term, Seth will be playing a much expanded role in landing recruits that are identified by our AC's. This is something Seth is clearly experienced in and good at.

As someone here pointed out, a lot of people can spot a blue chip kid, its getting them to nod their head "yes" that is the art. I think with Chase, Pirri & D'Amigo, RPI has already gone a long way toward getting back on kids' and player advisors' radar. What needs to happen now is next year's team has to make some noise on the ice. If that happens, then Monty's loss will be mitigated, IMO.

You called it Ralph! If I didn't know better, I'd say you were withholding info again...:D

What do 'ya think RB, is there still one more mystery D-man out there?

Makes sense.

We do need to start getting some forwards for 2011. With Ming out of the picture, I wonder whom we are after.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread II -- We Can Rebuild Them. We Have the Technology!

If we get anyone, I would think it will be a walk-on.

I would expect Foss, Kennedy, Bergin, Bailen, Leboeuf, and Koudys to be the top six, as always assuming that Brutlag is a forward. Beauregard is probably #8; we still need a #7.
