Thanks to Ken Schott for reporting on this:

If we play a Canadian team, bring your hard hats.

And if we play a Canadian team, the booing had better be uber-loud for PK icings, whether we're on the PK or not.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season III -- How we learned to stop worrying and love the Class of '14

I see the topics on the thread remain largely unchanged. Chase is great. JL is ... Yawn. Who is in the directory. The off season camps... Most interesting thing happening is the thread title. Still.. I read all of it regularly. Thanks for all of the effort folks.

I must admit that i skim a lot though. So is it really true that Luke C wasn't drafted because he beat up Chase Polacek during his recruiting visit and thus negated both of their chances to shine in a meaningless Phoenix Coyotes camp?

My thread suggestions:

RPI IV: The song remains the same
RPI IV: Because my brother took the last two scrabble letters
RP2I5: Where the heck are Yoda and C3PO?
RPI IV: The dog days of hockey

Cheers folks.

The Coyotes actually wanted to invite Luke Curadi but he was nowhere to be found after being put in hiding by babo so he wouldnt mug anymore short kids on the ice in Iowa. Or so Ive heard from people that know people. ;)

Woah, woah, woah. Using the dr strangelove reference in a thread title was my idea over 7 months ago.

Today is 9 July 2010. There are 91 days (13 weeks) until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

I will get Section 33 to do this should I be attending. A friend is having a current student get season tickets, so I will likely attend more games. However, I may choose to sell off a few games, but I have stringent requirements for the buyer, given the seat location.

...the ECAC teams have the book well read on how to defend against him...

The opponents might have the book, but they seem to be missing a few chapters...:p

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season III -- How we learned to stop worrying and love the Class of '14

I'm not sure if I have my facts straight here or not, but I heard Garett Vassel may have received a camp invite from the Wild (but don't quote me...I don't know if it materialized)

FWIW - I've not been able to find any other RPI players (outside of JDA, Pirri Foss & York) who are attending camps. St. Louis doesn't appear to be having one (how is that a good idea?) and a few other teams, which if they are having camps, have apparently decided that making this info easy to find is a bad idea. :D

My worthless $.02, since this is a 2-year experiment with exhibition games, and no one seems to like the rule, how about this: eliminate the exhibition games. Seriously, other than for team building, who needs 'em? Can't we go without whooping on the University of Cape Breton for a couple of years to further prove a point?

I think an exhibition to start the season is useful for shaking off the rust and getting out in a game situation before the games start influencing your shot at the tournament.

If you recall last year we played to a 3-3 tie against a hard-hitting PEI team in what I thought to be a pretty entertaining game. Not every Canadian team is a York or a U of Ottawa. We also played an exhibition against the US U18 team in '08 and they have a habit of shaming NCAA teams on occasion.

Give the coaches a chance to play with lines and goaltending a little in a game that doesn't matter, then hit the ground running the next weekend when the season starts.

It isn't about getting a blowout win-- I think the coaches might argue that they use the exh. games as tune-ups ---to experiment with lines, let players get used to game pace, flow, line changes, officiating etc..

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season III -- How we learned to stop worrying and love the Class of '14

I agree that the exhibition season is intended to allow coaches to 'play' with ideas they have without risk of getting caught flatfooted. It does also serve the purpose of getting the new players' feet wet. Beta tests without true consequence...

Our coaches have historically used the entire season to experiment with lines. :p

I would think that games against the U18 team also help in recruiting -- or at least they would if we would win.

I wonder when we will learn what the entering freshmen's uniform numbers are. I will need them for the countdown.
