Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

This is what I saw-Goal goes in the net-No goalie interference-No man in the crease! There has to be a video of that goal somewhere and hopefully it will be available for replay. We will get them tomorrow night! Go Red!

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

according to the gazette Appert showed video of the goal to the press after the game " tough to tell if contact was made"

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Absolutely not. I would put money on that. And it would be a safe bet to say that Mr. Hagwell and/or Mr. Stewart will be in attendance for tomorrow's game.
Whats the chances they will tender their resignations tomorrow night, after all with the mess they made of this league on all fronts, that would be the Honorable thing to do...under their reign of misfortune they have for all intense purpose been running in place and sliding a little every year and thats why I advocate Hockey East...if something doesn't change Im affraid we will slide below Atlantic Hockey to become the ugly reheaded step child if D1 hockey....wait did I say Honorable Thing to Do.....That will never happen !!!!!

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Before myths and speculation get out of hand, the teams agreed before the game to not shake hands tonight knowing they had to play again tomorrow. It just worked out perfect that tonight's game was again decided thanks to the incompetent boobs the league keeps trotting out there in stripes. I'm glad Seth blew up in the post-game presser - this is getting ridiculous.

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Well, I haven't posted in a while. This is a special occasion, though. I probably won't be back.
Exceptional circumstances have brought me back for one night only.

Great games can often be ruined in the blink of an eye. I believe that is what happened tonight.
On the whole, the game tonight was actually fairly exciting. Lots of two way action.
The referees, however, ultimately decided the game. You don't want to see that.

First and foremost, the referees need to get the calls right in the clutch.
Unfortunately, I don't believe that happened tonight.
Calls that are as bad and as costly as the one that ultimately decided tonight's game should not be as commonplace as they have become.
Knowing that there are ramifications for poor calls might actually lead to some improvement in the officiating.
Everyone knows that it's just a matter of time before a bad call leads to something bad happening to their team.
Don't think we're alone. There are 11 other teams that have to put up with these guys.

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

My summary of the game:

Leboeuf gets tripped. No call. Right after, he trips a guy. Penalty called on RPI. Can't clear the puck, 1-0
The refs call icing 30 times in the 2nd.
Bailen scores
RPI gets the better part of the play in the early 3rd.
The 3rd (or 4th, my count is maybe screwed up) offensive zone penalty. Can't comment on the roughing call, I didn't see it.
RPI can't clear the puck. 2-1.
After a make up call to make it 4-on-4, a Union forward (Presiznuk or Zajac iirc) takes a dive.
RPI kills the 4-on-3.
Goal disallowed.
Refs call a bogus makeup call to give RPI a penalty with 3 seconds left to give RPI an offensive zone faceoff.

Way too much emphasis on the stripes.

Union now has 5 goals against RPI this season. Exactly zero of them were when they had the same number of skaters on the ice. Give Leaman credit, he's adjusted his game to the joke that is the ECAC officiating.

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Here's the best I ever got from that address:

"With regard to on-ice officiating, evaluation and oversight of the on-ice
officials is a constant process. The League staff constantly is exploring
all facets to elevate the standard of officiating. This process includes
in-person evaluation, review of video, comments and feedback from coaches,
etc."

I love the "feedback from coaches" item.

Being that we should put Friday's game behind us, I ask the all-important question about whether we should start Part II when this thread reaches 1000 replies or just continue here? USCHO hasn't been closing threads since the "upgrade". If we start a new thread, are there any title suggestions?

RPI 2010-2011: Part II-We Could Win Without Waved Off Goals!

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Video on the Union Newspaper...I mean Gazette is great with Seth stepping in and showing the video then Schott asking about hearing from league for doing that..."Is there a rule about that?" You can see smoke coming out of his ears wanting to blast off.

Stand corrected about hand shake. Coach Appert is a class act. Thanks for the correction.

A legend has past in our midst. I kinda feel like I did when Bobby Orr retired. Celebration of what had been and diappointment on what could have been. Talents like RC only come around once in a generation. Farewell, Good Friend. Thanks for the memories.

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

The WRPI guys thought the reason for the goal being waived off was for player in the crease, dont remember a mention of goaltender interference. Kinkaids words from the post game press conference when asked if he was interferred with "I couldnt tell you honestly, it was all a blur over there." Sucks but I guess its time to move on. Tonights game should be really good! Exactly why I wanna see the scheduling changed so that teams play the same team on consecutive nights during league play.

Driven away by the ECAC I say. Next up Coach Appert.

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Appert was right about showing video of goal. If Kenny doesn't want to see the video that speaks to his journalistic integrity. The question in my mind is not whether Appert can or should show video. It is whether the right call was made. Ken, facts are stubborn things.
