Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Should be 25 in November

Just did a quick google search and saw November 1989 as birthday....I dont really care how old he is just as long as he puts pucks in the net for RPI the next 4 years. :D

I find the same 1989 birthdate-the RPI athletics site is probably just wrong by 4 years. He will apparently be 21 this November. I too expect a very good career for him in Troy:)

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

For the RPI football fans-we finally found a team that has more offensive problems than we do. RPI shuts out Rochester 17-0 and we had two of our own field goals blocked or it could have been worse. That evens up the record at 2-2. Next week is an off week and then we face nationally ranked Alfred-and that will be a handful.

After the 1st period, White leads 2-1. Goals by AAG, Rogic, and Malchuk.

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

UNB just defeated UMass 4-3 in OT in Amherst. UMass scored first at 5:52 of the 1st period. UNB's Ryan Seymour tied it up at 9:40 of the second. In the third period UMass scored two power play goals. The V-Reds responded with 2 goals 25 seconds apart later in the period: Jordan Clendenning at 14:26 and Hunter Tremblay at 14:51. Jeff Lee got the winner at 1:41 of OT. Shots were 29-28 in favour of UNB. UMass was 2 for 6 on the PP while UNB was 0 for 2.

Bergin scored in the 3rd to tie the game 2-2.

Scoreless overtime, nearly scoreless shootout. Order was something like Rogic, Higgs, O'Grady, Helfrich, Polacek, Goulet, Cullen, Kennedy. Only Kennedy scored, White wins 3-2.

Very enjoyable, I'm sure others who were here will chime in with individual observations.

Been off the forum for awhile as I was moving across the country. Forgive me if this was revisited recently, but I remember months ago someone implying they may stream the games because RPI TV no longer can. If that person is here and still plans to stream games, please let us know details. Also, if anyone else devised a solution to the the whole paying for crappy B2 coverage problem, let us know.

A few observations from tonights Cherry/White scrimmage.
It was quite chilly in the Field House and the new paint job makes the place look very bright. Lebeouf is tall and will fill out to be a solid player. Have a feeling Rogic and Higgs will make impacts on games this season. Goalies looked good. Overall, this team will be a tough team that will be in any game it plays.

Few takes. So much brighter. Better music. Scoreboard looks lower. I miss no shot totals. We need to keep York fresh for leauge play.

Who would ahve guessed that Kennedy would be the only one to score of those?

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

In honor of Pat Koudys and Audrey Stapleton, today is 3 October 2010. There are 2 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 5 October for the start of next season.

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

For the love of gawd, does anyone have a report about what happened on the ice?
Bergin scored on the power-play because Malchuk had tied up his man and the puck deflected off his stick and into the net. Malchuk was not very happy after that goal.

Rogic looks quick (yes, I know this was already known) and has the ability to be a force pretty soon. He almost scored in OT just by rushing past the D-man marked to him and putting it past York. Lebeouf is a big boy but needs a little help with his skating and decision-making. His penalties were the result of either being out of position or being too slow in making a decision. Koudys moved the puck pretty well, but I don't have a whole lot of comments otherwise.

The team definitely needs to gel a little more. Lots of sloppy passing and funky mishaps. I'm going to attribute that to the short bench, though.

With regards to the fieldhouse, the glass facade looks beautiful, but they need to find a way to block out the sun in afternoon games. The linesman was blinded (more than usual ;)) in the third period, and then it hit Sections 15 and 33 (I'm assuming it hit 16 and 17, too, but I wasn't sitting there, and they are also not looking west at such a severe angle). And, obviously, it would be nice to have the coaching boxes / SAJ suite / concessions finished.

The Phantoms-Devils match was an ugly, fight-filled game and something tells me there will be some blood on the ice when they open the regular season next week.

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Did any of the walkons look like they could help the team?

Not worth even worrying about. The only ice time they'll see all season was today. That's it. Bruce Statton was very, very small in stature.

Rogic's speed is sick. Easily the fastest skater I've seen at RPI in years.

Lebeouf's shot is very impressive, Bailen's shot is VERY good from the point. Low, hard, FAST and on target.

Higgs didn't stand out too much.

Bo Dolan appeared to be smaller on the ice than I thought he would be. Perhaps my own goofy assumptions at work there.

Koudys had a nice shot from the point as well. Accurate shot and could help out a lot there. Lebeouf reminds me a lot of Jeff Foss, just left-handed.

Instant reactions:

Guys that will immediately help out: Bailen, Rogic, Lebeouf, Burgdoerfer.

Patience required: Higgs, Koudys.
