Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 Part II: I Believe in Seth Appert

Anyone planning on making the trip over? I'm still thinking strongly about it, even though my last road trip - Niagara - was... well I won't go there...:p

We have a group of 20 going mixed between people traveling from Troy, people already in Boston, and a few random others thrown in. So there will be at least that many. Includes several of the regulars from on here. Feel free to stop over and say hi if you do go. We'll likely be pretty easy to spot. ;)

But... I thought everyone was wearing red?

Finally a game in Boston! I'll be there with my 8 year old son in tow (although I have to say paying $24 for him is way over my accustomed $5 for kids at Merrimack and U Lowell games). Tough to chuck the bucks away when the game is on TV for free.

BU is off to a rough start but they seem to be turning the corner somewhat. I was not impressed when I say them earlier int he year but they were missing a couple of key guys then. Game is on NESN so that should help the boys get fired up again. No idea what to expect or predict for this one.

“When they put the Jumbo Tron in I will be able to speak to how well or how poorly York is playing

Is the field house getting a new Jumbotron!? That'd be awesome! I also agree with everyone's replies to the poster who unfairly designated V-T a "c*&k s*&%er". Really no place for that...the kid played awesome...put the big boy pants on and tip your cap.

We got beat last night and while the manner in how it happened really stings, the talent this team has really shouldn't waver peoples' perception of their potential. Honestly, IMO, we're a .500 team looking for our identity. These last two years have netted us a wealth of talent (recruiting) that still needs maturation and acclimation to the college ranks. Polacek has really blossomed in his third year and judging by the talent levels the freshman have, I see them doing so even sooner.

I'll be headin' to Boston as well...though not heading to the game. I have opted to spend the $25 ticket price on cheap draught beer at a bar and watch it with some old college buddies on NESN :). Any recommendations for a venue?

GO RED!!!

I've been in talks with one of the architects who is working on the Field House renovations. From what I last heard, there will not be a Jumbotron. The idea was tossed around, but there's not funding for it. The renovations themselves are underwhelming; there will be minimal changes to the Field House other than Section 1. A new two story structure will be built in the old Section 1 area. It will house VIP seating (for Shirley), a conference room, and offices for coaches. They may be opening some of the windows back up on the west end of the field house. On the other end of the field house, the Pep Band's stage will be raised a fair deal to be above the glass. This will allow for additional storage underneath. The only other change is an important one for me; RPI TV will be getting our own production room underneath Section 17.

On a whole, it doesn't seem to me like the average spectator will gain anything from the renovations. None of the seats will be replaced.

RPI fans USUALLY have more class than what this idiot has published. I am ashamed that he calls himself a RPI supporter.

Totally agree. Every fanbase has its share of embarassments. I met one of Union's last night - and then there's this dope who sadly represents RPI.

You'd think if nothing else they could cough up the cash to put a fresh coat of paint on everything in the rink proper, but I doubt that's even included. I've thought for some time that having the seats alternate red and black (instead of red and blue) and replacing the blue curtains with red or black ones would go a long way to making the rink feel more like the Engineers' home, rather than the rink they happen to play in.

Spraying a coat of bright white on all the structural elements to cover up the dingy cream color they've become in the past 50 years would make the place feel a lot brighter as well. Upgrades to the lighting and sound systems could make a world of difference. These are the types of things I would recommend if I was the consulting engineer on the job. Unfortunately my company's not involved with this one. :( So luxury boxes and offices it is, while the average fan sees nothing. At least they're finally doing something about the stage after years of lobbying.

Forgot a couple things; they are planning on painting the ceiling and replacing some of the lighting fixtures over the ice. They're not planning on upgrading the lights over the seats though, which are really quite dreary.

I completely agree with this...total incompetence and unprofessional demeanor from Emanatian...instead of telling Pirri what he expected, he got in his face and threaten him with a penalty. Appert should take that up with Stewart, IMO. Total BS. Meanwhile, U's Boileau never squared up and I don't believe was ever once got tossed from the circle. As a practical matter, I don't understand why we had Emanatian as a crew member for three straight games?? So much for mixing up the (s)crews.

Emanatatian is a look at me guy. Skates around like a figure skater. He chucked I think Pirri for no reason last night then stuck a finger in his face. He is such a bag

It's my understanding that the entire lobby and exterior front facade will be completely redone...with lots of glass -- if the renderings are adhereed to. While this won't impact the watching of games, it will certainly greatly increase the curb appeal of the old barn.

Well said AJT..can't say it much better than this.

Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 Part II: I Believe in Seth Appert

You are a bigger embarrassment than that game was. How dare you belittle a good, solid player who plays the game the right way, just because he scored a few goals against the team you like. Mario Valery-Trabucco is a hell of a good hockey player. I'm not going to be sorry to see him graduate. But how dare you take away from what he did out there, like it was only him stumbling into what he did, and using a name that crude. Have a little bit of self-respect. I almost wish I was rooting for Union, just so I could claim that I don't root for the same team as you.

Gots to agree Red Cloud, using that kind of laguage to describe a twenty something year old hockey player on the internet bad news
What a low life!!!
Doesn't anyone monitor language?
If Mario was my son I would hunt this punk down and make him cry!!!

Pretty is good! New windows in the front blah blah....Please move the first 5 to 10 rows forward whatever is safe. Put the walk way behind that. Build seats on the east and west ends. 10 rows on the east end and put the band on top of that. Put Shirley's little room on top of the rows on the west end. C'mom you can figure it out youre engineers.
Sneak in Greg Crozier if you need too
No money for a Jumbo Tron!!! OH yeah but there's money for Shirley's new house and a date with Arethea

All of this reaction over someone calling a player on an opposing team a name? Really? Sounds like it's time to call the wahhh-mbulance.

The way he did it was classless and he wasn't describing anything related to his hockey playing. It was complete bush league.
